So what do you make of this? There has to be more than meets the eye. JKR has said that she chose the words carefully.... _________________
Thats a hard one, it just confuses me when i think too hard about it.
Im tempted to take it for what it is, and assume that Harry or LV have to die in order for the other to live but I agree there could be more to it.
I must think about this some more and get back to you
I think what it means is that neither of them can live while the other survives because they'll always hunt each other, because they're enemies. I don't think Harry will have to die in order for Voldemort to die. So yeah. >_> I don't know. _________________

Put simply, Harry will have to kill Voldemort or Voldemot will have to kill Harry. There's room only for one of them in the world. _________________ Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
Yes, it’s very possible that Snape will sacrifice himself to help Harry. Could be Hagrid, the guy could launch a suicide attack on Voldie to try and buy Harry some time.
It could even be Harry’s Aunt you never know.
Maybe a lot of people close to Harry will die, and he’ll be left all alone, his only companion, his Scar.
Remember, Dumbledore said that Harry saved Wormtail's life, and that one day Harry may be glad he did, because Wormtail now owes him his life. Whatever happens in the next book, it's gonna rock! _________________ "For too long we have been taught to praise the wrong heroes, thieves planting flags and murderers carrying crosses. I quite agree that Snape will be the one to sacrifice himself for Harry. If the "life-debt" theory is true, it makes sense for him to be the one. Plus it sounds like something Rowling would do

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to say that (going out on a limb here) that yea, they are going to have a all out confrontation, sure. But I think neither can die by anyone elses hand, you know? Kinda like only Voldemort can kill Harry and only Harry can kill Voldemort. When one dies, the other (the person who lives) can now be killed by anyone else. Get my meaning? _________________ ~*I am NOT a freeloader! I exchange advice for beer.*~
ya i agree^^ its because they are both so motivated to kill each other. One of 'em will be pushin up daisies at the hands of the other. _________________ Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure
There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that Voldy will die in the end. I'm as sure that this will happen as I am that I'm writing on this board right now. However, whether or not Harry will also have to die a glorious death in the end, I'm not sure. Clearly, though, one of them has to die. We'll have to wait and see whether or not it's both of them. I think though that in the end, this has to be Harry battling Voldemort alone. I just don't see any other possibilities.
Also, I still think that there is quite the possibility that Harry could come out completely triumphant. After all, it did say that one will have power that the other does not know about!
The power is love. The ability to feel love, which Voldemort has never felt or experienced. Harry cares about the people he knows, Ron, Hermione, the Weasleys, Hagrid. He draws strength from that. Powerful it may be, but not enough to stop Harry from dying.
Picture this - Harry lies dying from a mortal wound. Voldemort stands over him, to finish him off. Harry thinks of everyone he cares about. He feels love for them and then in a last burst of strength kills Voldemort. But he dies.
So while the Prophecy says one will have to kill the other, it does not say that both will survive, either. This may be what happens. _________________ Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
That's true also. I always try not to put too much into my own predictions because so often they're wrong (although they're sometimes right...I predicted pretty early in the series the death that happened at the end of book 6), and I think JKR has done such an excellent job of telling the story thus far that I just want to leave it up to her and enjoy it for what she makes it.
J.K.R creates twists in the stroy, so we can't really predict anything, although three of my predictions for book 6 came right: Harry & Ginny, Bill & Fleur and Harry getting appointed Quidditch captain. But those were a little obvious. _________________ Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus
I guessed after book five that Snape would be DADA teacher because otherwise Harry would have no chance of becoming an auror: Snape didn't accept less than an O into his NEWT class, so that meant that there had to be a new teacher, and why else would there be a new teacher unless Snape was DADA teacher?
Anyway, I think that Lupin's gonna die (nooo!! But I really do think so) Look at it: James died trying to save Harry. Sirius died trying to save Harry. With the life debt that Wormtail owes, chances are he will die trying to save Harry. And that makes all the Marauders.... except Moony.
Plus, his first name is Remus, which comes from one of the legendary twin brothers raised by a she-wolf after their jealous uncle cast them into a river. Remus was later killed by his twin brother Romulus... maybe he will be killed by someone close to him, or someone who was once close to him.... Peter Pettigrew, perhaps? _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.

That would be pretty dramatic. I think Voldemort will die, but I just think that Harry might have a long scar, maybe not physically, but also mentally or emotionally. And he will be known by everybody, even muggles. _________________
How about Nerville?? Just saying what comes up in my head, nothing coherent... still Harry will die, it is the only logical thing for me to happen... _________________ Sonita
