They had a casting call for Lavender... they could have decided to get rid of the character. That's what happened to Lily in OotP, they actually filmed her scenes and cut it all out.
Or maybe they are keeping it a secret until they start filming. Or maybe they really haven't cast someone yet. Filming starts in a couple of weeks, but her scenes might not start shooting for awhile. I dunno, but I can't wait to find out who is playing the part, assuming someone is.
The film makers hate me.

I can see it in the news.
"In other news, a rally has been formed by angry Harry Potter forum goers, who are upset by the decision of the filmmakers decision to get rid of yet another character.
Police officials have released a statement saying they do not consider the crowd hostile, however, fear for one young man's sanity as he keeps yelling "Crucio" towards the director.
He claims his forum name is Sirius Black.
