Am I the only one who was absolutely loathing Dumbeldore for a short time, between when Harry found out about his true purpose, and when he and Dumbledore talk at King's Cross? I felt it was completely opposite of how Dumbeldore had usually acted, in that he had raised Harry knowing that he was going to have to die. He put on a completely different facade when talking to him, acting like a loving parent. In reality, he was only trying to keep Harry alive to complete the destruction of Voldemort. However, after/during their talk at King's Cross, the "old Dumbledore" seemed to return. This got me thinking that all along Dumbledore knew Harry would not be killed.
I was just amazed by my *hatred* for Dumbedlore during this short time. He seemed just as bad as Voldemort. "For the greater good" seemed exactly what he was doing.
This whole part confused me greatly.

Yeah, I agree, I was loathing Dumbledore at that moment. I wasn't quite sure if all that time it had been an act or what, but yeah. The fact that Dumbledore wasn't as perfect as he seemed, but made up for it, makes him seem alot cooler.
BTW I love your sig. one of my favorite parts of the book! _________________

Ravenclaw FTW!
I disliked Dumbledore for a short time (after reading that letter he wrote about "the greater good") but came to realize that he changed later in life. He was after all, just a teenage wizard thirsting power.

I liked him even more for being able to overcome his faults. I was a little upset when I read that he knew Harry was going to die since the beginning. But then I found out that he actually knew he wouldn't die, because he found out Voldemort put Harry's blood inside his body.
Yeah, once I found out about him realizing Harry wouldn't die, I came to respect him like I did before. But for that short time, I felt completely betrayed by Dumbledore, as strange as that may sound.

but he didn't know that until GoF. but I think thats also why he saw it as a flaw in the plan to love Harry, to care more about whether he lived or died than "nameless thousands". But...he really did care about Harry, really loved him. it wasn't an act. _________________ They say home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. --Captain Hammer
The fact that Dumbledore had been brought back from his time as a "Dark Wizard" leads me to something as well.
It confused me, up to this book, how DD knew what Voldemort was doing and how he had guessed. But now I think I understand, it was what DD himself would have done had he followed the path he was as a child. It makes sense that DD and Voldemort were not to unlike each other, only DD made the right choice when presented, but still knew how to think as he would have had he continued his path. _________________
