So I guess we have some controversy towards who R.A.B can be.

I've got some evidence that will explain EVERYTHING. And no, it's not a spoiler. Wink

Remember when they were clearing out Sirius's house? And they found the locket that none of them could open? You want proof...?

Here's that passage: page 116 Order of the Phoenix

"There was a musical box that emitted a faintly sinister, tinkling tune then wound, and they all found themselves becoming curiously weak and sleepy until Ginny had the sense to slam the lid shut; also a heavy locket that none of them could open..."

Why couldn't they open it? Because it was destroyed by Regulus Black. Wink

Oh sure, it could be any ordinary locket.

But let's put it this way...a heavy locket that no one could open in The Noble House of Black...where Regulus once lived.

Try to shut me down on this one, guys! Mwuahahaa

...How many times have I seen this evidence? I don't think anybody's going to be arguing with you. R.A.B. is apparently someone we've met and Regulus Black is the only one whose initials could possibly be R.A.B. anyway.

No, they couldn't open it because it still has the Horcrux in it. Harry has to destroy it.

I dunno if it's been discussed recently, but it's one of the main reasons everyone thinks R.A.B. is Regulus. Most everybody's seen that passage and recognized that locket as the horcrux. Perhaps HRH is right and Harry still has to destroy it, but the fact remains that R.A.B. is Regulus Black

dorks! R.A.B stands for rodolphus and bellatrix!!!! is in jkr's site!

Spoiler:

KIDDING! GOTCHA! Laughing Laughing Laughing

yeah i believe its rodolphus, but we dont have much evidence that that heavy locket indeed is the horcrux locket. and if no one can open it, probably it is because voldemort's soul is still there.

however, why would regulus be so careless about where he put the locket? why didnt he hide it in his bedroom?

and if that is so, that the locket is indeed the horcrux, then i dont think mundungus could have sold it to aberforth, because kreacher will have kept it. regulus probably instructed the elf to keep it or have it not thrown away.

We will not know for sure who RAB is until the book comes out or if the Horcrux was that locket, but the speculation is good. All evidence points to Regulus, but all the evidence has pointed somewhere else before and turned out to be someone different (Philosopher's Stone--Snape and Quirell)

omg we agree on sumthin dude lol.. i think that there is a great possiblity.. i made a post on it before i saw this .. theres a link to list of names of known prisoners of azkaban.. those two make the most logical duo.. but there are many others with possible initials involved

The locket, if it couldn't be opened, probably was not destroyed. I would say that the Horcrux is still in there, if it is a Horcrux, and that Harry must be the one to destroy it. I think RAB, if he is a Death Eater, learned of Voldemort's Horcruxes and found only that one and kept it in case his master ever returned to give to him and be praised above all.
