Because she's evil, and on this forum it's 'cool' to be evil. Although I've found most of the people that think that end up being really nice.

yeah, she's crazy and (maybe to some, not me) it's entertaining..
still, on top of that, she killed sirius black, a favorite character to many.
i don't understand how people can love that.

flamingmonkey923 makes a really good point. Most of the people on this board who like Bellatrix (and Voldemort for that matter) are actually really nice, sensible people (for the most part Wink ). Maybe that's what they find so enticing... that these fictional characters are so deliciously evil.

Of course, I could be wrong...I mean, I never am, so... I'm gunna shut up now and wait for halfbloodprincess and everyone else to respond to your post, I'm sure they'll enlighten us. Smile

nice phrase...deliciously evil. She really is. I like a good villain. I don't think I'd like her as a person, but she's fun to read about. and Helena Bonham Carter did a great job bringing her to life.

Lots of people like the bad guys, not just on these boards and not just with Harry Potter.

Tons of people love Darth Vader! I do!

When you watch the Hannibal Lecter movies, most people actually want him to escape and live! I know I do!

It's an escape from something that we could never be... Mass murders with no conscience to speak of. I mean Darth Vader is just too cool, but he's ruthless and a murderer of millions and an accomplice to even more millions in his Universe, yet people still dig him.

It is just a fascination some people have (at least this is the way I feel) to try to understand how someone could be that evil, and I see people say most of the people are nice or at least not evil themselves (I'm probably not considered nice by a lot of people on this board but I'm definitely not evil or do I try to hurt people's feelings purposely). I think that is an extension of we could never be these evil people yet we are fascinated by how they can be so evil and just not give a damn what anyone thinks.

Thank you, I think that was a really good explanaition.

oh, and I like Hannibal Lector, too. And I'm not evil. I just think he's a fascinating character. I kinda found myself rooting for him, too.

well yeah theyre interesting characters... bella and voldie. it makes you wonder why one is so evil and why the other is crazy in love with voldemort. their personalities are not just on the surface. there's more to them... and definitely there's more to snape. dont you just love how you dont know where his loyalties lie, how he was able to fool the greatest wizards of all? and then also barty jr. he's so brilliant. of course, nobody would suspect the friends of dumbledore... yet, at the end of the book, trusting in dumbledore is still justifiable because that moody was actually an impostor, not the real thing.

but yeah i also like the good characters like hermione and luna, sirius, lupin, fleur, moody... and well i wouldnt know whether to put percy and rita in the good or evil characters coz while they are not death eaters, these characters are so motivated in their jobs, theyre hardworking, and even if they are real assholes, you cant help but admire them.
