I am on page 485 of the HBP. I do not want to know what happens in the end. I simply want to know if the memory has any significance in the destiny of Harry Potter. Is is just something that JKR threw in to sidetrack her readers? Or is it of much importance? I already know that Dumbledore dies. I cried when I found this out. Can anybody tell me what happened to his hand without revealing the end of the book?

no, telling you about the hand would reveal the end, and you'll find out anyway as you read on. you'll also find out why slughorns memory is important. actually they're both related. just be patient.

Actually, I read it while I was waiting on a reply to this. So thank you. The ring was cursed the for the ring was a horcruxe. Which therefore damaged voldemorts hand....Thank you for giving me a reply.

It was actually Dumbledore's hand, but I think you just typed it wrong.

Umm... fine... xD *ahem*

Ah, it's a shame you've already found at Dumbledore dies. Even when the internet was circulating with "DUMBLEDORE DIES!!!11!!" I didn't pick the message up fast enough... i was genuinely shocked when Dumbledore died. It was one of the best surprises I'd ever experienced.

yes,
i know what you mean. I cried for like an hour and a half. It was very hard for me to even picture what the world of Harry Potter would be like without Dumbledore.*tear*
