Is it possible that the Giant Squid could be an Animagus, wathcing and protecting over the school until when there is clear and present danger? JK joked about it, but its always a cool idea....

Awesome idea, really have not thought much of the squid other than being just a support character to the Hogwarts theme.

I love the squid, i think he will still hae a part to play.

I have a theaory he is like... the 'God' (for want of a batter word) of hogwarts.
My theory is probaly as likely as me bing a man (i'm not by the way) but i can still fantasize and have a laugh.

i think that the giant squid will end up being an animangus... i dont no who, but probably osme one famous... or maaybe hes a horcrux somehow? Confused

This is gonna sound really weird but maybe it is Hagrid. The squid never bothers the first years and Hagrid is the one taking them across. Hagrid is usually gone for long periods of time. Hagrid is a softy and so are squids, and Hagrid is a protector just as the squid protects the school. Hagrid was there when James and Lillian were there so that explains that.

you can't be born an animagus. It is a difficult act of magic. Plus, when Hagrid was taking the first years across in GoF Dennis Creevey fell out of his boat and the squid saved him, I think they would have noticed if Hagrid dove in and transformed into a giant squid.

Yeah, I think the squid is just that... a giant squid. He's there just to add to the magical-ness of Hogwarts and the wizarding world... just to make it more 3-dimensional.
