i've wondered that, too. it seems like owls come at all times of the day, but there's a big rush at breakfast. why do they all get there at the same time? maybe some speed up and some take it easy. i don't know.

Prehaps they wait in the Owlery until breakfast, I think the odd owl comes in at lunch or dinner. It echo's the muggle world really, post in the mornings.

that could be, but they are holding envelopes and packages. would those go in the owlery, too? how would they perch themselves?

I assume it has to do with owls sleeping patterns. They are nocturnal, they stay up all night hunting and sleep in the daytime. i would assume they use the nighttime to travel, drop the post off, and head off to the owlry for bedtime. That would account for the surge of mail at breakfast. However, sometimes it takes longer to fly certain places.. and some owls, as pets, might feel obligated to deliver mail when they are told to, even when it disrupts their hunting and sleeping patterns.

but even still, they aren't all flying from the same location to the same location, and they've all got stuff in their talons, so they can't exactly stop. i think the sleeping pattern thing makes a lot of sense, but packages sent from all over the country still manage to get there at roughly the same time.

The owls themselves could probably time their evening properly... to ensure they get their mail delivered so they can head right off to bed afterward.

Yeah, they get there at night and sleep at the Owlry, then at breakfast they all come in there together. Makes sense, no?
