|
|
One thing in the series that has always had my imagination running is Dumbledore, more than anyone he seemed to embrace what a wizard was, powerful, intelligent, sense of humor, etc...
But, in Book 5 when Voldemort and Dumbledore fight, the spell that was so powerful it made Harry's hair stand on end and forced Voldemort to conjure a shining silver shield to absorb it. Upon hitting it rang a deep, soothing gonglike sound.
Never having read of that spell in books before or after, I've often pondered what would have happened had Voldemort been hit by it. Personally, I think that the spell was one only Dumbledore knew, one that took another wizards magic away, and that was why Dumbledore was the only one he ever feared, for death would be more of a comfort for Voldemort than living his life without magic, being the Muggles he hated.
Your thoughts? |

I disagree. He probably found it in a book somewhere. _________________

| I always thought that spells that powerful had more to them than just 'reading in a book'. Otherwise, you could take over the world in 15 minutes with a library. |

But you can. It's a work in progress for me. I'm leading a resistance movement. _________________

Maybe it was a more powerful version then the defense spell harry normally uses.
Or...
He creates his own spells like Luna Lovegoods mom did.
He is a very gifted wizard after all. _________________ Join Reality Of It All!!! |

While I agree that Dumbledore is certainly smart enough to create his own spells, I must point out the fact that we have no idea what this spell does. Though it's probable that it could be one that strips a wizard of it's magic, why hadn't we heard of it before? _________________

That would be a brilliant spell.
Sounds similiar to whatever Lily Evans managed to charm up to protect Harry against LV. I don't think it was just a mothers love that worked that spell of swapping out LV's powers and giving them to Harry. So harry gets parseltongue, and what did LV get and retain of Harrys?? _________________ Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. |

I don't think Lily performed a spell at all on Harry. I think it was just her love and her love alone- her love so strong that she'd die for it- that cast the spell on Harry.
And I don't think it was Lily's love that swapped Voldy's powers to Harry. I think that was the backfired AK, and the reason it backfired was Lily's love. And I don't think Voldy got anything of Harry's, just Harry of Voldemort's, because Voldy was the one that performed the spell on Harry, so he was, involuntarily, offering a bit of himself to Harry in the process.
Does any of that make sense?? _________________

No after that there was like a binding spell which then Voldemort said was worse than death. (after Albus said it)
But that gong spell i think yes did probably de-magic the foe. |
