i think Dan is seventeen now. by novemeber he 2008 he'll be 18. by the time DH is released in 2010 (most likely 2010), he'lll be 20...

They start filming in September, officially. So, the movie's in pre-production at this moment in time.
November seems like a reasonable date to me. It's how the movies have worked a lot of the time. They'll do 2 movies in about 2 years time, take a long break do two more in 2 years, etc. Look at the release dates for each movie. The first two were released in a year of each other, and the other sets have been a little longer but they weren't too bad. The worst was the 2 year gap between movies.
SS/PS: November 16, 2001
CoS: November 15, 2002
PoA: June 4, 2004
GoF: November 18, 2005
OotP: July 11, 2007
HBP: November 21, 2008
I get the feeling that DH will be be grouped along with OotP and HBP. If I had to guess, I would say it will be released around December 2009. I doubt they'll wait till 2010 to finish off the series.
As for the kids age. I could care less. Dan and Rupert are 18 at the moment, and Emma is 17. So when DH is out they'll be 20/21 maybe. That's not bad considering there's actors that are 25 playing 17.

I wouldnt be surprised if they did a Matrix and film HBP and DH at the same time in one big slot, then edit it all later

and also, the actors finish filming long before the movies are released, because there are so many special effects that need to be added. so even though dan will be 19 by the time HBP comes out, he will actually have filmed it when he was 18
and also, aside from the first 2 movies, which were released within a year of each other, every other movie has been realeased within a year and half of each other, give or take a few months, theres a pattern. and DH is set to be released in 2010, not 2009, although it'll probably be earlier in the year

Ron4ever is correct. The filming usually occurs at least 1 year from the release date. Filming is actually the easiest part of production. Still, age doesn't matter that much now. The Trio and many of the main characters have already gone through puberty so it's not like you're going to see much changes in appearance or height between the 5th and 6th and 6th and 7th. If at all, they will look older, but if they need to look younger, then there's always makeup. Bonnie Wright (Ginny) and Evanna Lynch (Luna) look like they could mature, in appearance, more, but even if they don't, makeup and special effects/lighting can change that.
As for DH, there is a chance for it to be released 1 year from HBP, but it all depends on how fast production starts after HBP is released or if DH is filmed along with HBP, much like Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and Pirates 3 were. I'd like to think it's going to be released Summer 2010 but I wouldn't mind a November/December 2009 release. I do not see DH being released anywhere between the Holidays (November/December) or the Summer months (June-August). They earn more money if the films are released alongside the holidays/vacation.
