Macs are amazing, but if you want good performance do not get the Macbook Air. I have an HP laptop as well and it isn't that bad for me. If you are looking for a Mac laptop, save up for a Macbook.

I got a dell vostro 1500 myself. It cost me $1200 from the dell website.

Thing is kind of bulky, mainy due it being kind of a gaming laptop. Has geforce 8600gt, 2 gig ram, and 2.4ghz dual core. Not to mention the 9 cell battery adds like a pound. Thing can spit out some serious heat too while playing oblivion.

Pretty Much all Laptops are "Bulky" i got a Dell Inspiron last 2 months ago, originally $850 i got it for $650. It is bulky, but overall good, only bad part is it has Vista on it. But don't all laptops these days. I love my laptop, games such as Call Of Duty and Counter Strike work great on it, just like playing on my Desktop
