Which books do you think should become movies and which should remain on paper?
Personally, I think Warner Bros. should get another director and completely re-do OotP in the next few years...that will never happen, I know. _________________

I dont like the idea of them re-doing Harry Potter so soon.
I love the actors and actresses doing them now.. Maybe after 10 or so years it would be ok to do it.. but not now..
as for what books should be on the big screen or remain on paper.. I have not really seen to many book to movies.. _________________

I think My Sister's Keeper should have remained on paper... but they're doing a movie about that. _________________

The Once and Future King was once made as 'The Sword in the Stone' but a live action series of films would be awesome. The Chronicles of Perdain have also been attempted as 'The Black Cauldron' but again a series of live action films could do them justice. And Terry Pratchett's 'Good Omens' is in talks to become live action with Terry Gilliam at the wheel which would be sweeeet. Neil Geiman's Sandman series as well...that would be cool... |

I actually think that's a great one for film as long as it's done right. Unfortunately, it's probably not going to be done right . . . _________________

Supposedly, Island of the Blue Dolphins is going to be made into a film? Not too sure how I feel about that...I'd see it, just because I love the book, but I can't imagine what they're going to do for dialogue.
Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series is being made into a miniseries, and it looks like crap. Which is very unfortunate, because those are my all-time favorites. _________________

We will probably read it for book club. Anyways, I Holes would have been a good movie, but it was just bleh. In my opinion, they should redo OOTP so Dan can be in it with longer hair, lol. _________________

Shade's Children by Garth Nix would make an awesome movie, without having to change a whole lot.
Ella Enchanted, Blood and Chocolate, and The Golden Compass, all need to be remade. They all stunk that much.
The first two I don't even think bothered to read the whole book, maybe just the backflap, and it shows. They don't really retain anything but the barest bones of the plot.
The Golden Compass, changed somethings around, but kind of sucked the life out of the book. They toned down some of the anti-religion stuff, and it shows. Maybe in 20 or 30 years when the world is a bit more accepting of such things, it will be made into a better movie, and the second two books will be made into movies as well (since they aren't even going to make all three of the trilogy at this point). |

Mainly because I want to see what Jean Claude would look like, to see if I got him right I want the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton to become a film. Maybe only a couple of them though as there are about 14 of them. _________________

Well when I was reading Northern Lights back in the day I thought it was something that really needed to be made into a film, and after the complete butchering of the novel that was the recent film I feel that it needs to be redone to actually encapsulate what the story is about - corruption, greed, love, religion, power, duality... not talking animals. _________________

Versions of books I was happy about:
-ALL the HP movies, except Prisoner of Azkaban
-Lord of the Rings trilogy
-Fight Club
-Interview with the Vampire
-Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe
-V for Vendetta (Graphic Novel)
-Ghost World (another GN)
-Romeo & Juliet (the DiCaprio & Danes version)
Versions I hated/want to see done:
-1984 (this book has so much potential to be turned into something both creepy and creatively done! UGHHHH)
-Alice in Wonderland and/or Through the Looking Glass (thankfully Tim Burton's working on that)
-The Time Machine
-Watership Down
-Looking for Alaska
And of course, I'm eagerly anticipating Twilight & Half Blood Prince. Also, I think An Abundance of Katherines is going to be made into a movie, I hope that does well. _________________ Music is the magic far beyond all we do here.

| I that The Last apprentice series should hit the big screen because the books are good and if done right the moives would be a big hit to. As for books that should have stayed on paper i think that Eragon was pretty crappie(thats y they haven't made any others) but the book was good. |

i think my houghton mifflin social studies book from the 4th grade should stay on paper. it was mildly interesting, what with the california gold rush and missions, but all-in-all it was not a page turner. _________________ how tough am i? well, i'll have you know i stubbed my toe last week (while watering my spice garden), and i only cried for 20 minutes!

pottergirl, did you read the first sentence of this thread? before you start policing what other people say, look at what they're responding to. _________________ how tough am i? well, i'll have you know i stubbed my toe last week (while watering my spice garden), and i only cried for 20 minutes!
