No idea if this has been brought up before but I think it would be a good addition since we have a lot of stuff to offer which you could buy with the cash.
Let's say for each post you got 2 forum cash, or 5 forum cash. Then when you get 1,500 forum cash you can purchase Special Rank (like the Auror, Prisoner of Azkaban, Death Eater, etc.). When you get 3,000 forum cash you could purchase a custom rank.
Also this would be great for the Graphics section because people that do requests on here just feel like they're doing them because they have to. It would motivate more people if we got paid for every request we did, like 30 or 50 forum cash.
Well, I don't see what we need the cash for when it come to the ranks. When a poster reaches a certain post count, they get a new rank. To also give cash to earn the ranks seems redundant.
No one is forcing anyone to make signatures. A job well done and a thanks should be enough, but I guess not.
I think, if anything, people will stop asking each other to make sigs if we have to start paying for them... And I guess newbies won't be allowed to ask for sigs becaues they won't have enough cash. Unless they started spamming or playing games. Then they'll certainly earn enough cash, lol.

One advantage to this would be that you couldn't just 'spam' to get your post count up, or just hang out in "Forum Games". Right now, you could post everywhere in Forum Games for a month and be able to get a custom rank. And there are a few people who only post in that forum.
It'd be a lot to keep up with though - and Dar would have to find a MOD that would automate it, otherwise it just wouldn't be worth it I would think. _________________

I don't see how the cash would prevent people getting a higher rank from forum games.

So unless this cash thing excludes forum games, then I don't see how it would cut down on that... And if that's the case, would it not make the same sense if we just cut out the post count from forum games altogether?

Well you could disable post count or getting forum cash from Forum Games.
Yeah well in every other forum sites "funstuff "or "forum games"section, they disable the post count so that they can't take advantage of the VIP treatments. I mean its not that the custom rank is making you a VIP, Mod or something similiar ranking, there's no advantage in having a custom rank in Potterforum ,so whats the headache? _________________
Kino, thanks for the suggestion. Just to clear things up for everyone, there are mods that can do things like this and you can restrict points/cash from certain forums (i.e. Forum Games). What he is describing is possible.
However, at the current time I do not think this would be valuable enough to justify the amount of time and energy it would take to plan, setup, and install/configure. I don't think that there is currently enough type of situations within our community that would apply to point/cash transactions. If you would like to discuss this further and try to plan additional uses for this project, please feel free to do so. But in at least the very near future, I don't think we'd be implementing this here. _________________

I was interested in this idea after reading this thread, and I decided to just throw around a few ways the Forum Cash could be used...
Though this may or may not be possible, perhaps you could pay Forum Cash to be able to change your name or your custom rank to something different.
One could be able to open a blog or a column on the forums after paying a certain amount of cash.
One could be able to start a official club, with it's own mini-forums, members, pages, etc. and pay more forum cash to get more features.
These are just a few ideas. Again, I don't know of any of these are possible.
Other Ways to earn Forum Cash could be:
-Making Threads
-Voting in polls
-Making popular threads (ex. for every 200 views you could get more cash or for every 50 more posts you could get more)
-Commenting in people's blogs (if the blog idea is used)
Also, you could give Forum Cash to someone if they:
-Helped you with homework, a HP question, etc.
-Make you a sig/avatar
-Wrote a good fanfiction
But those could be used as a tip along with the praise of a job well done
