1. How old are you?
17
2. Are you male or female?
Male
3. Do you have any connection to someone with Albinism? If yes, what connection are they to you?
Nope
4. How would you define the term Albinism?
Some sort of chromosomal disorder where animals/humans end up with a vast pigment disproportion, usually leading to whiteish skin/fur and pink eyes
5. Which of the following do you believe people with Albinism have: (you can tick more than one)
-Are completely blind
-Can’t go in the sun at all
-Their eyes shake
-Are deaf
-Cannot have babies
-Are brain damaged
-Have red eyes * (kind of )
-Have white hair and skin *
-Are contagious
-Wear sunglasses all the time
-Have psychological problems
-Other, please state:
6. Where have you found your information, if any, on Albinism? (you can tick more than one)

-Other, please state:
7. Would you be interested in learning more about Albinism? Why? / Why not?
not really; it doesn't affect me directly
8. If you saw/met a person with Albinism in public how would you react? (you can tick more than one)
-Stare from a distance
-Shout rude comments at them
-Walk up to them and touch/look at them
-Ask lots of questions
-Not associate with them because of their Albinism
-Whisper about them behind their back
-Ignore them
-Other, please state: Act like they are normal people
Why would you act this way?
Because they ARE normal people - pigment disorders don't inhibit one's personality nor intellect
9. ‘People with Albinism cannot integrate into normal society’ (Please circle)
Disagree Agree
1 2 3 4 5 Disagree (that's a 2 I guess)
Why do you think this way?
Although Albinos have no natural inhibitants to their integration in society, I do not completely believe that society, as intolerant as it is, will ever accept them. Xenophobia dominates the world.
10. ‘Society rejects people with Albinism’
Disagree Agree
1 2 3 4 5
Why do you think this way?
Because I understand that society is messed up, racist, xenophobic, and intolerant, in general.
11. Do you think more education on the topic of Albinism would help you/others become more accepting towards people with Albinism? Why? Why Not?
Sure, but reducing the amount of brainwashing and intoctrination that goes on in the household would be much more effective. _________________
Hope this helps you out a bit, I tried to make my answers easy to read. On the ones where you asked people to tick responses, I just deleted the ones I thought were basically false.
Really interesting topic. I don't know why but, until reading some of your questions it really had not quite occurred to me that someone might be persecuted for albinism in this day and age.
1. How old are you? ---- 26
2. Are you male or female? ---- female
3. Do you have any connection to someone with Albinism? If yes, what connection are they to you? ---- A girl at my college had albinism, although I didn't know her personally, only saw her around campus. (I would guess she had fairly 'complete' albinism, she was very pale with white hair - although I think she dyed it blonde later on. Can't remember her eye color offhand)
4. How would you define the term Albinism? ---- A congenital, genetic disorder in which a person has partial or total absence of pigment in the skin, hair, and/or eyes.
5. Which of the following do you believe people with Albinism have: (you can tick more than one)
-Their eyes shake
-Have red eyes --- I believe most have blue eyes, but they can look reddish or violet if the albinism is severe
-Have white hair and skin - they may, depending on the degree of albinism
6. Where have you found your information, if any, on Albinism? (you can tick more than one)
-School/Uni
-Other, please state: I'm a biology major, so hopefully I'm not too off on my info (if I am, it's because I'm a wildlife biologist, not a geneticist)
7. Would you be interested in learning more about Albinism? Why? / Why not? ---- Yes, I've served as a biology instructor and have had to teach genetics, it would be useful information.
8. If you saw/met a person with Albinism in public how would you react? (you can tick more than one)
-Other, please state: I would notice, but keep going.
Why would you act this way? - It's human nature to notice (and I like watching people), but it is just basically pigmentation. It's no reason to treat someone differently.
9. ‘People with Albinism cannot integrate into normal society’ (Please circle)
Disagree Agree
1 (disagree)
Why do you think this way? - Well, they may technically have a 'genetic abnormality' but they aren't really abnormal people. They're just people with less pigment.
10. ‘Society rejects people with Albinism’
Disagree Agree
3
Why do you think this way? Maybe not 'reject,' but people tend to single out what is different. Especially if they don't completely understand it.
11. Do you think more education on the topic of Albinism would help you/others become more accepting towards people with Albinism? Why? Why Not? It definitely would. The more you know about something the less foreign it is to you. _________________ I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once. But by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog. ~ Dwight Schrute
3. Do you have any connection to someone with Albinism? If yes, what connection are they to you? -- no
4. How would you define the term Albinism? -- I don't know much about it. I just know that it's a hereditary disease that causes a person to have very pale skin. It differs in degrees, and some people have a more drastic difference in appearane due to it. Some people with albinism have hair that so blonde it's almost white and some even have eyes that appear red or pink due to lack of pigment.
5. Which of the following do you believe people with Albinism have: (you can tick more than one)
--Have red eyes -- Some of them have eyes that appear red or pink. Appatently, they're not technically red or pink, though,
-Have white hair and skin -- They have very blonde hair that appears white, and their skin is really pale. It's Not white like in the movie powder, though.
6. Where have you found your information, if any, on Albinism? (you can tick more than one)
-Friends -- Not really a friend, but I used to go to school with a kid who was albino in middle school. Pretty much, I just got it from being around him in class.
-Other, please state: I've read some articles that I just sort of came across online.
7. Would you be interested in learning more about Albinism? Why? / Why not? I guess so. It's not ony my list of subjects to look for at the library, but it never hurts to learn about something.
8. If you saw/met a person with Albinism in public how would you react? (you can tick more than one)
-Other, please state: -- I would act like that person is a normal person.
Why would you act this way? -- um, it's rude not to.
9. ‘People with Albinism cannot integrate into normal society’ (Please circle)
Disagree Agree
1
Why do you think this way? I'm going to say 1 (that means disagree, right?) They canintergrate into normal society. I know the kid I went to school with missed a ton of school, because he was always having medical problems. I just don't know if that was directly related to his albinism. If they do require to miss that much school and work, though, it would be a challenge to intergrate them into normal society. It has nothing to do with the albinism, though. Missing that much school or work would be a challenge for the person and those who have to make allowances for it. I didn't know that those who suffer from albinism weren't integrated into society, though. It's not as if they are all shut up in an institute somewhere.
10. ‘Society rejects people with Albinism’
Disagree Agree
2
Why do you think this way? I'm going with a 2. I'm sure that there are some people who hold true to rudeness and disrespect for others, but society as a whole is pretty accepting of people. The only problem is that people tend to over-do it with trying not to offend people with differences with as albinism, so they will trip over themselves trying to be nice to those people.
11. Do you think more education on the topic of Albinism would help you/others become more accepting towards people with Albinism? Why? Why Not?
Education is never a bad thing, and I do think that it will make people more accepting. If people are exposed to the reality of something like albinism at a young age, then it doesn't come off as so strange when they get older.
1. How old are you?
27 (yes, I'm really 27 and still on a HP forums)
2. Are you male or female?
*checks* female
3. Do you have any connection to someone with Albinism? If yes, what connection are they to you?
Nope, not that I know of.
4. How would you define the term Albinism?
albinism
Main Entry: al·bi·nism
Pronunciation: \ˈal-bə-ˌni-zəm, al-ˈbī-\
Function: noun
Date: 1836
: the condition of an albino
— al·bi·nis·tic \ˌal-bə-ˈnis-tik\ adjective
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/albinism 5. Which of the following do you believe people with Albinism have: (you can tick more than one)
-Have white hair and skin
(I have a sinking feeling I'm wrong about this, though.. if I am, please dont' anyone be upset with me.)
6. Where have you found your information, if any, on Albinism? (you can tick more than one)
-Research
-Film/TV
-Newspapers/Magazines
-School/Uni
7. Would you be interested in learning more about Albinism? Why? / Why not?
Sure, I like learning new things. And I think learning about people helps to better understand them.
8. If you saw/met a person with Albinism in public how would you react? (you can tick more than one)
-Other, please state:
I really don't think I would act any differently.
9. ‘People with Albinism cannot integrate into normal society’ (Please circle)
Disagree
(I hate numbers) I see no reason why anyone couldn't integrate into society because they are physically "different." Sometimes society can suck for people who are "different" but then again, everyone is different in some way.
10. ‘Society rejects people with Albinism’
Disagree
Why do you think this way?
Like I said, society can suck for people sometimes, but I like to think it isn't completely awful.
11. Do you think more education on the topic of Albinism would help you/others become more accepting towards people with Albinism? Why? Why Not?
Yes, I think if people can better understand others, then they can be more accepting of them. People tend to fear or reject what they can't comprehend.

Because everybody's different but there is the fact that some people try to offend people who look "different".
11. Do you think more education on the topic of Albinism would help you/others become more accepting towards people with Albinism? Why? Why Not
I think education would actually be pretty good on a topic like this. It's good for people to know about others. Makes it easier to be around them for people who look at them a certain way because of how there apperence is.
3. Do you have any connection to someone with Albinism? If yes, what connection are they to you? no
4. How would you define the term Albinism? lack of pigment in their skin

-Walk up to them and touch/look at them
-Ask lots of questions
-Not associate with them because of their Albinism
-Whisper about them behind their back
-Ignore them
-Other, please state:
Why would you act this way? - it would attract my attention. but unless i was seated beside an albino or introduced to one, i wouldnt talk to them, simply coz i dont just approach people i dont know and ask questions. but i wouldnt make fun of them or talk behind their backs

that makes no sense. Black people are called that because of their skin. African American is our proper name. so "black albinos" doesnt work. you could say African American Albinos. _________________
