I read some post in other forums, some people say this game is rather unfair because the seeker can get an extra hundred and fifty points if he catches the snitch. The seekers are so important that they nearly always get their teams won if they're really good.

I always view it as a metaphor. But the hidden message is too subtle for young children to understand.

How many times does Rowling stress on Harry's talent for playing quidditch seeker? He's light and speedy with the build of seeker. He's the youngest seeker in a century. He had a knack for spotting things other people didn't. He ended the game in five minutes, really made a record. He caught the wand with the unerring skill of the Seeker...

Compare with the life story of Harry, you will find similiarties here. The good wizarding people longed to overthrow the dark lord and Harry was the key. He spotted all the horcruxes and got them destroyed which lost the dark lord's immortal ability.

Harry succeed, they all won.
If he failed, they would've been wiped out from the world.

Harry was not only a seeker in his house team but also the Seeker of the wizarding world.

What i dont understand is that the houses are only reaching 400 odd points by the end of the year after 3 quidditch games with all the points awarded wouldnt there be more points at the end of the year?

that's a really interesting thought! it actually makes alot of sense. do you reckon it was actually on purpose or just a coincidence?

i don't think the points you win in quidditch go to ur house points. pluss alot of points get taken off as well you gotta remember that.

Of course Rowling did it on purpose.

That's one of the amazing thing about rereading HP. It makes you look at things in a different angle and dimension, and gets different point of view, It inspires you to think deeper and deeper, and you really don't know where it will take you to!!!!!!!!!

Actually the points do go towards house points because people are wondering where the points from the quidditch match went when harry got caught out of bed

hm... yeh actually i think i remember that now. isn't it that you get a certain ammount of points when you win or something? or are you saying that the points you score in quiddith go towards house points?

I did always think that the points won in Quidditch was added into the current total, but taking into consideration penalties (and with this how many people actually would get in trouble) and how many points are actually scored during a quidditch game.. It's going to be a lot less than people think.

On the topic of this brilliant metaphor, wow. I never thought of it like that. That's pretty awesome.

I think the winning house gets an award of a certain amount of points, having nothing to do with the amount of points won in the game.

I concur, I think the winning House gets points, but not actually equal to the amount of points won in the game.

Good comparison!

i think that there was a scale to each game really

win first bracket say you get 25
the second you get 50
thrid 75
champion 100

just a thought.

Well, in fact, I really want to tell Jo that someone here understand her, feel sympathic to her. She is not alone.
I lost someone in my family couple years ago. I know exactly how it feels like.
