Okay, there is something that's bugging me about Sirius Black. Was there any particular reason JK Rowling gave Sirius the initials S.O.B? Was that supposed to be some sort of a joke or some statement about how he saw his mother? Or was it simply a coincidence?  Does anybody know?

His full name is Sirius Orion Black. It's on JKR's official site as well as on Mugglenet. I was just wondering if that was a coincidence (especially given what Sirius thinks about his mother).

I also want the link. It's a funny though, and I could see Jo naming him that not even realizing what the initials infer. The thing is that his middle name isn't stated on his lexicon page and I can't find him in the wizard of the month archive.

I think a lot of people assumed Sirius's middle name is Orion, since it's his father's first name.

Probably.
I love how they both are stars (well, one is a constellation..haha..). |
Most of the names on the Black Family Tree are named for stars or constellations, including Draco.

Wow. I just realized that all the times I've seen Sirius Black as Sirius Orion Black hs been in fanfics. I always just figured that they (the fanfic authors) had to have gotten it from somewhere, since it's generally the same in every fanfic that involves Sirius, though I'll have to keep looking for that link. I could have sworn I saw it somewhere else, though.

his father's name was Orion, maybe you saw it there
