I've never really said the name out loud before until I was talking to my friend the other day, and I found that we pronounce the name differently.
I pronounce it (nuh) as in nullify, and genie, as in...genie.
My friend pronounces it with a hard 'g' as in goat.

So...how EXACTLY does one pronounce 'Nagini'?!

I say it na(a as in bath)g(hard)eenee

I think I say it that way because I grew up with Rikki Tikki Tavi and the evil snakes in it, Nag and Nagina. Nag gives a good idea on how to say the first parts of the other two names.

I don't even remember the pronunciation in the movie. The movies aren't cannon, though. They pronounce Voldemort wrong in the movies.

When I first read that JKR pronounced it the same way I did, I was stunned. I couldn't believe I wasn't losing my mind, lol.

In case anyone was wondering.. in the GoF movie they prounounce Nagini with a hard G sound... like Gosh or Glow.

(OT- hehe, sparkly vampires do fall from the sky!)

Not that it should be taken as definite canon. They pronounce Voldemort's name wrong, for goodness sakes. And I heard in the US audio book they prouncounce "accio" wrong...

I see, yeah. I'm thinking it's Sarah more than Sara....but i don't think it matters how you spell it. I'm just referring to pronunciation.
