I run Windows Vista Ultimate Service Pack 1 (64 bit workstation)
I never had issues with it. Great Operating System on fast computers.
Here is my rule of thumb.
Vista is great on new PC's made for Vista, not so much designed for Windows XP.

Vista is more graphically intensive, and just more intensive overall, so it runs noticeably slower on older machines, machines made for XP, and just lower end machines in general.

If you have a graphics card, the strain on the CPU is gone. This makes it technically faster.

True. But it is not just graphically more intensive. That is a major part of it though.

Hence why it is only made for PC's 1 year old, to current.
