hey guys, would you like to complete the timeline of voldie? i already put bits of stuff.

31 December c.1926 - Tom Marvolo Riddle born

c. 1970 [001 - SS/PS1] - Lord Voldemort started to recruit followers and started his reign of terror

31 October 1981 [001 - SS/PS1] - Lord Voldemort kills Lily and James Potter and attempts to kill Harry James Potter; Lord Voldemort defeated.

31 July 1991 [004 - SS5] - Harry Potter's 11th Birthday. On Voldemort's orders, Quirrell attempts to break into Gringotts to steal the Sorcerer's Stone. Fortunately, Hagrid and Harry were there earlier to retrieve the Stone.

26 May 1992 [007 - SS15] - Harry Potter gets detention. Prof. Quirrell enters the Forbidden Forest, slays a unicorn, and drinks unicorn blood, most likely on Voldemort's orders. date was based on The HP Lexicon's calendar for SS

4 June 1992 [009 - SS17] - Voldemort is unsuccessful in retrieveing the Sorcerer's Stone. He left Quirrell's body and killed him in the process. No one really knows where he went after this. date was based on The HP Lexicon's calendar for SS

how do you figure he started recruiting c1970? weren't a lot of them friends from Hogwarts?

1937-Starts Hogwarts
In between- Kills his father and grandparents, finds out about Horcruxes...experiments with the diary, comes up with the name Lord Voldemort
1942- Opens Chamber of Secrets
1943or44- Starts work at Borgin and Burkes

Summer 1994- Wormtail finds him in Albania and brings him back to the Riddle House
June 1995- Regenerates, but fails once again to kill Harry Potter
June 1996- Fails to get the prophecy and reveals himself to the Ministry to boot

June ? 1995 - Voldemort returns to a body.

June ? 1996 - Voldemort is unsuccessful is retrieving the prophecy from the Ministry

June ? 1997 - Voldemort's plans to kill Dumbledore are successful

sept 1938: voldie enters hogwarts
1942: 5th year
jan - may 1943: opens chamber of secrets
jun 1943: myrtle dies
summer 1943: kills riddles
jun 1945 - graduates, works with borgin and burke

1992 - 1993: COS, harry and ron are twelve
minus 50 years ago: 1942-1943, tom opened COS
tom opened it in his 5th yr.

he entered hogwarts 1942 - 5 years = 1937.
he was born dec 11.
so by dec 31, 1937, he was 11.
so he was born dec 31, 1926

1945? (right after he graduated) - Attempts to apply for a teaching position but Professor Dippet the Headmaster tells him he's too young at 18, but tells him he can apply again later, much to the chagrin of Dumbledore.

1944-1945 - (half a century before GoF takes place) Tom Riddle kills his father and grandparents.

no, he killed them while he was at hogwarts. in slughorns memory harry noted that he was already wearing Marvolo's ring, which he got from Morfin when he went to kill them.

Okay well I'm just going by Gof, but he was in his 7th year during 44, so he would have still been in school.

It says "Half a century ago," and GoF takes place in 1994. Obviously that doesn't mean exactly 50 years, it could be 51 years, it could just be a relative statement. So it's either like 1943 or 1944.

oooo I see. yeah I guess he would be a 7th year in those two years...you put it after he graduated in the timeline though, so thats what I went off of. But wait...he was wearing the ring when he asked about horcruxes...so he had to have done it before he opened the chamber and made his diary a horcrux. He did that when he was 16...it would have to have been his 6th year at the latest that he killed them. Actually...about the same time...he probably made the diary a horcrux with their deaths. or wait no...he didn't know...ummmm. then who did he kill to make it a horcrux?

I'm pretty sure when he commanded the Basilik to kill moaning Mertle he made the diary horcrux with that.

There is no mention that there is a timeline when the soul have to be taken from the body and put into an object to make a horcrux, at least that we know of.

It's all relative, when she says half a century ago, does that mean it was EXACTLY 50 years from the beginning of GoF? now that I think of it we might have to give it some leeway and when he did kill them, because why ask Slughorn about horcruxes if he already knew how to make them.

I think when he killed his father he used that murder to create the ring horcrux tho. But we don't know, it's all conjuncture.

Basically we can probably say he killed his remaining living family members between the end of his 5th year - and his 7th year.

I am thinking he did it during summer break though, whatever year he did it.

he couldnt have turned it into a horcrux immediately.

in slughorn's memory, he was already wearing the ring, meaning he killed the riddles already. but, he didnt know how to make horcruxes yet, which is why he had to ask sluggy how.

no he did not maake a horcrux with gaunt's death.

1. he did not know how to make a horcrux when he visited morfin gaunt
2. he did not kill morfin gaunt. the guy died in azkaban.

Yes he framed Morphin.

And I realized how he put his 16 year old soul into the diary.

That's when he split his soul, but he didn't actually cypher it and encase it into the diary until later, but because he committed the murder of Moaning Murtle (by putting the Bassislisk on her) when he was 16, that piece of soul that split off was of his 16 year old self.

That kinda makes sense now, because he wouldn't have created the horcrux right away, just as he couldn't have with the ring. But if you look at it that way, it explains a lot.

hmmm.. the riddle's death came after the death of myrtle, if you check the timeline. so if ever he did make a horcrux but waited months after his last murder (which i presume was the riddles') then it would have been done with the death of the riddles and not moaning myrtle. the riddle's death was the more recent one.
