There was an error regarding the forums database deletion methods late last night resulting in the removal of this thread. I am simply re-creating it. Same concept. If you see any spam posts/topics post the links here and/or PM a staff member who is online at the time. Also, remember to NEVER replay to spam topics/posts.

This only alerts the Administrators, which simply in our case is not fast enough.

can't moderators be added to those alerts as well? it's been a while since i've owned a phpbb2 site, but i think that's possible.

also, what kind of antispam tactics are in place? i know there are a lot of modifications that can be installed that would stop most of this stuff.

why are guests allowed to posts? that is a major opening for spam right there.

also, i know there is a mod that does not allow a user to post a url unless the have been a member for a few days or they have a certain number of posts (whichever comes first).
http://www.phpbb.com/mods/db/index.php?i=misc&mode=display&contrib_id=1649

that would help eliminate some problems as well.

This feature is in place because sometimes users need to get in touch with us if they are having issues logging in.

ok, that's good. maybe some kind of captcha or human test would be good for guest posts. or guest posts need to be approved by a mod.

Thank you very much. For the future, please note that you do not need to report spam that occurs in the Help section due to the fact that this is a high priority section for us. We appreciate all spam reports, though. Smile

I would just like to remind everyone, once again, do not reply to spam! This includes spam in your inbox, especially if there is a link involved. And for the love of Ceiling Cat, do not click on the link, please!
