First, make sure you've read this post

Now, remember what Heyman said?
Quote:
As Heyman put it: "The question will be, where do you break it? And how do you make them one but two separate and distinct stories? Do you break it with a moment of suspense or one of resolution? These are the interesting challenges. But each book has presented its challenges."

Well, what do you think? Should the first film end as a cliffhanger or with a resolution? And at what point do you think they should end the first film at?

yeah, I think if they ended on a resolution it wouldn't be as exciting. like golden compass...they cut off the ending which was cliff hangery and ended it on a resolution instead. it fell flat. all my friends who saw it who hadn't read it felt the same...like it was anticlimactic. it needs to go out on a bang.

I think that it should end with a cliffhanger, but I stand on the theory that I had in the GH.

I def think that Yates will want to end it just after Ron returns and saves Harry from the lake.

Seem's like it's already decided, but I would much prefer one 5 hour movie...

Anyway, I think the best place to divide it is after Godrics Hollow.

cliffhanger. otherwise no one (except us obsessed people) would see the second part and it would bring down sales

I want the whole book smashed into one movie. I dunno...It's one book so I think it should be one movie. I don't think they should split it up like that...

I mean, wasn't GOF almost as long at DH??

They didn't split GOF in half.

It just seems like a way to make more money off of it...

But since my opinion doesn't matter to Yates....they're probably gonna split it up anyways....

Since we already know it's going to be in two parts, they should stop it while making us want more.

Yes, I think it should be partly resolved but not completely. Sort of like the way they ended "The Golden Compass"...it wasn't resolved in the slightest bit, you still had many questions, but you still felt satisfied (just not completely..).

I say resolution. I think they should end after the Godrics Hollow visit but not until Harry realizes his wand is broke. The second part can pick up with the Silver Doe.

Okay... I think I made my decision.

I think they should end it right after Ron leaves. It's raining, hope is lost, they are distraught.... Hermione screams for him, curls up on the chair crying, Harry puts the blanket over her.... they feel lost and unsure of what to do.... end film.

I would like it to just be one long film, but since it won't be....

I guess I'll go with a cliffhanger, like when Ron leaves or around that area.

I think they should end the first part of dh with leaving Godric's hollow because if they ended it with ron leaving then Godrics hollow would be at the begginning of the second part thats just to active for the beggining every hp movie ends with a fight[spoiler] and that should go for both parts of dh godric's hollow for first part and final battle for second see it works

I read somewhere they almost spit GOF in half, but they decided not to at the last minute. They could cut things out of that, like S.P.E.W, and not change anything major in the plot. Like Dan said, some fans were horrified, but if they kept everything in, every film would be split up, and we'd still be on the 3rd movie. And you can't really cut anything out of Book 7, and you can't fit it all in one movie. Who wants to stay at a movie theater for 5 hours?I'm sure many devoted fans, including me, would but many fans are still kids, like me, and our parents would never let us do
that. I believe the split is purely fot creative purposes. If Jo is cool with the split, we should be too. As for where the split should be, I think it should be just where Ron pulls Harry out of the lake. Of course, then I'll probably go crazy.
