But that doesn't mean that we knew all of them. There are hundreds of students at Hogwarts. So, a lot of those characters were not important in terms of known characters in the story.

See... I was wondering if some of them had (other minor DAs like Cho or the Patils), but JKR just didn't want to say so, to be too upsetting. So she just made an aside about 50 bodies...
I just saw that as notably vague.

does anybody else think tonks and lupins death was completely a waste, they were barely used in this book and harry didnt even seem that bothered, in fact over all the deaths this was the most overlooked, just skimmed across and went past very quickly, fred got his mother weeping over his corpse and the two of the newly wedded new parents just got glanced at and then a bit later 'oh what a shame' attitutde, i just didnt 'feel' the loss like i did with the other deaths, i think JK could have done so much better with these two great characters, really, i am so dissapointed in that aspect.
