It's a really bad ending for Hedwig ...I do think so... Sad
End up by being dropped into the middle of the air (accidentally, of coz)...sigh...

Spoiler:

A sad but necessary death, she would have been to hard to travel around with, while in hideing, and aslo harry would not have used her to send owls because he was in hideing and she could have been fallowed if used to send letters, also by her death, it showed how serious death woudl be in the book.

That's right, she died mad at Harry. But she often got annoyed with him. But she always came back. She loved him and Harry knew that. I hope she knew that, too. How horrible. He was so distraught when she died. She was his companion, she kept him company at the Dursleys and always remembered his birthday.

Such a tragic ending for such a beautiful and majestic bird. Rest in Peace, Hedwig. May Owl Heaven have unlimited flyspace, unlimited birseed, and all the frogs, mice, and lizards you can catch. Oh, and a place to crap on all the owls in Owl Hell! Wink

It was so said, I was in tears and could barley see out of my glasse's to keep reading Laughing
I don't think it was a nessecary death, although I can see why some people see it that way. I'm sure she would have just stayed at the Weasley's the whole time Harry was away.
But it does show a pretty sad loss, I'm terrible when I have lost my animals in the past.

Yeah, when people who ask med how the book was...I'd tell them I was cryin by the time I was in the 5th chapter...because of Hedwig's death. I was just in this midset that I imagined was Harry's....he had already lost so many people...then he lost the one connect he had always had to the magic world...his first actual magical/hogwarts thing...and she too was taken from him...I could cry now. it was so emotional.

I thought that the lost of Hedwig was an omen that the entire wizarding world would fall. I'm so gald that I was wrong.

Hedwig was a female, buddy. It's ok, maybe it was a misprint. And that is not completely true. If Hedwig was at the Weasley house during the wedding, where she most likely would have been with Pig, and the trio disapparated they would not have had her and she would have just stayed at their house. At least, that is my theory.

I just went to the zoo 2 days ago and there was a snowy owl, and I looked at my boyfriend (who doesn't read HP but because I watch the movies all the time has seen them) and got really sad and said "It's Hedwig" and he was like "dear lord you are nuts" I was so sad to see her die, ok ok we didn't SEE it, but read it.

That would have made me go insane to, and I am a guy. Hedwig, for me, was the starting point for Harry's Wizarding Career. He got her the day he found out he was a wizard, she was with him his whole journey, but, sadly, she could not see the end of the journey with him, so sad!

I agree. Harry wouldnt've been able to use her that much anyways. It's still sad but I cannot say it affected me that much. I didn't cry or anything.

Hedwigs death represents a loss of innocence. It shows the Death Eaters ability to kill ruthlessly, im not sayin all their other deaths didnt show this as well, but nothing can have more of an impact than the loss of a defenceless pet.

hey just found a quote from an interview with JK

'The loss of Hedwig represented a loss of innocence and security. She has been almost like a cuddly toy to Harry at times. Voldemort killing her marked the end of childhood. I’m sorry… I know that death upset a LOT of people!'
