I have just read the chapter of "The Prince's Tale", and I kinda have to admit, I still don't fully understand Snape. Can anyone clerify some of the important facts for me? (I've dumbed out) :X _________________ I don't like you.

Severus Snape, much like many characters in the Harry Potter books, is nor a brilliant white hero, or a dark and evil black bad guy. The characters are not black and white. [which is what makes them so intriguing.]
Snape befriended Lily Potter about a year before their first year at Hogwarts. He was a half blood, his father used to abuse his mother after discovering she's a witch, it is reflected when Lily asks Severus if his father is still yelling, and also when Severus is seen at King's Cross, his mother is described as weak and run down.
Now at this point, Petunia hates the wizards because she didn't get excepted at Hogwarts.
Snape loved Lily...through out the years, they became best of friends, and Snape, in an attempt to impress Lily, grew more powerful in his favorite subject, the dark arts. His friends in slytherin influenced him in the dark arts even more. At one point, he was so angry with the gryffindors, and he was so high on himself with the slytherins that when James was tormenting him, he called Lily a mudblood when she tried to help him. I also think he called her a mudblood because he thought she was falling for james, and it angered him..when she said she didn't like him, he relaxed. But now, she didn't want to be his friend anymore.
In his frusteration, he became deeper in the darks arts, thus becoming probably the third most powerful wizard, and the second smartest wizard in the HPUniverse. [DD and Voldemort being 1st and 2nd powerful--and DD being the 1st smartest]
He worked for voldemort as a death eater. After over hearing the propehcy, snape told Voldy and Voldy decided it was Lily and James
kid. So Snape freaked. He decided he would cross voldy...a huge step because Voldy is the greatest Leligimens. Snape must have been stronger. So then, Snape manipulated Voldy somehow into 'spying' on DD and hogwarts.
Snape loved lils..he decided, in the advise of DD, to not allow her death to be useless, and he decided to care for Harry. He grew affectionate for harry, yet he was so torn because he was so alike James. I think it's expressed that Snape loves Harry when DD told him that Harry must die, and Snape yelled, 'we did all this for nothing!'
In the end, I conclude, because of his love for lily, that never died, [because the last thing he wanted to look at was Harry's eyes, because they were lily's, and because of his patronus] he loved Harry...he took care of him all along and he manipulated Voldy to triple cross him. DD told Snape to kill him [DD] because DD tried on the ressurection ring[stone] to bring back ariana and kendra, and got cursed and would die in a year..because of Snapes help...but because DD knew that Draco was to kill him, he told snape to do it instead, because Draco was too pure and innocent.
Yes...that is Snape for you..very interesting and intriguing. To me, he's a hero, I love snape, it took him a while to see the right side of things, but in the end, he did. _________________
lol, dumbledoor says something like that. He says something about Draco's soul is still too pure to be ripped...something about the innocent think its a lot easier to murder then it actually is..implying that draco is both still pure and innocent. _________________
DD also knew that Draco would find it too difficult to actually stand there and kill him
so by asking Snape to do it, DD would still die and Draco wouldnt get in trouble with Voldy
as Voldy was just using Draco to get back at Lucio for his mistakes
I always knew Dumbledore was right to trust Snape _________________
