Okie basically their exams we do at the age of 15/16 [year 11]

And you do them in English, Maths, Science and whatever four options you picked as your options.

So I did, English, Maths, Science, French, Geography, History and ICT.

And they affect what jobs you can get, college, uni the lot.

Yeah, it's a British thing. And us Americans got our thing, like SATs and stuff. If you go to mugglenet, they posted up an update on Emma Watson's grades on her GCSEs. All A's, of course.

Good luck to everyone!!!!!

Yeah Emma Watson got really good grades.

She got awesome grades in her A levels as well.

Which are the next ones after GCSEs.

Actually GCSE's are more of a English & Welsh thing because the Scottish dont do them Smile

For us SATs are taken in year 11, usually. Certain colleges look to the scores as to whether or not they want you. Harvard and Yale (kinda of like Oxford and Cambridge for us) require high scores, while the community colleges hardly glance at the scores. As for affecting work, college does that and sometimes it has no effect at all.

How do the GCSEs work? I mean, how does it effect what work you can get? Do the employers see the grades?

Thats why us Americans aren't equally compared educational wise to European kids.

Yeah we are, but I went to school in Poland for a year and I was in first grade, and I swear we were doing multiplication and division. Which I didn't start till late 3rd grade when I got back.

Yea when you go for you're interview you have to show them your results, in school they make a big fuss about how important they are if you want work, but in my experience employers arent that interested in what you did at school, just work experience and skills etc.

So basically if you fail dramatically - like me! - you can still get work, you just have to go study again if you wanna become a doctor or a lawyer or something! Which some people may think is a waste of time but I hated school and just wanted to get out and work. Three years on, I've got more idea of what I want in life and now i WANT to learn.

Ok I'm done! Very Happy
