Well, I think flying without broom or motorbike or thestral is a thing maybe only the Evilest Dark Wizard can do. Nobody can except Voldemort because first of all he's really really evil. Second of all, he's strong. On the other hand, it is kind of far-fetched. I mean, seriously, you can't really fly in the air without anything to support you unless if you put some kind of spell on yourself or a Disillusionment Charm on the broom(I dont think you can do that, though).

^ Voldemort wasn't the only one who could fly.

Snape also learned how to fly, as was shown before the final battle for Hogwarts chapter.

I don't think it's far fetched at all...Voldemort was an extraordinary wizard...and he's had years of practice focusing his skills and pushing himself to newer and greater limits.

yeah i think that bit was cool. voldemort flying! id love to see that in the seventh movie. i dont suppose it should be a problem for a highly accomplished wizard...

Tom Riddle's ability to fly may be aided by some form of transfiguration or and or some kind of weightlessness charm.

I think that is was just some seriously advanced spell. Knowing Voldemort, probably something dark. Really, if you look at it there are already some spells that can lift people. Winggardium Leviosa (well, maybe...) and that thing Hermione used to get Harry out of Bathilda Bagshot's house during the Nagini incendent. It was only a matter of time before Voldy took those spells to their limits and figured put a way to control where he went.
