The Kinks were a British rock group. They first gained prominence in the mid-1960s on the heels of the well-received and highly influential single "You Really Got Me". Originally consisting of lead singer/guitarist Ray Davies, his brother lead guitarist Dave Davies, drummer Mick Avory and bassist Peter Quaife. The core of the group over the years has remained the Davies brothers. With Ray's splendid songwriting skills and 'mockney' vocals, Dave's impressive guitar work and Avory's tight and steady drumming, the band became one of the most influential groups of British rock and the "British Invasion" of America.

For a brief period in the mid-'60s, the band rivalled The Rolling Stones as the second most popular British group behind only The Beatles. Just as the group were starting their artistic best, internal squabbles, conflicts with the music industry, and an untimely ban from touring the United States eroded their popularity on both sides of the Atlantic. However, they experienced popular fan revivals in the late-70s and early-80s and today they are credited as founding fathers of genres as diverse as Britpop, punk rock and heavy metal

Pockets . check out some real lyrics.

I didn't understand any of tha stairway to heaven stuff and that other stuff of yours that I posted was just bad.

heres some really good lyrics that mean something

Just emphasize His lead
The lover of your soul
Do you like the things that life is showin you

Do ya know
(Just emphasize His lead)
Where you're going to
(The lover of your soul)
Do you like the things
(I want to, I want to)
That life is showin you
(That your life is showin you)
Do ya know
(Just emphasize His lead)
Where you're going to
(The lover of your soul)
Do you like the things
(I want to, I want to)
That life is showin you
Do ya know

Just emphasize His lead
I want to, I want to
The lover of your soul
Do you like the things that life is showing you
I want to, I want to...

Just emphasize His lead

Toby Mac is awsome and this song is called AfterWord.

Jimmy Page> Eric Clapton> David Gilmour

Yes, Clapton and Page and are Guitar Gods, my favorite two actually. I also like Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, Jimi Hendrix (though, I think he’s slightly overrated), Slash, Syd Barrett and a many more.

@PG

Look, you obviously wouldn’t be able to interpret some of the Zeppelin, Floyd, and Beatles I was going to post. So here’s something easy to understand, yet easily more meaningful that what you posted.

This Song is called Civil War and is by Guns ‘N’ Roses.

"What we've got here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...
So, you get what we had here last week,
which is the way he wants it!
Well, he gets it!
N' I don't like it any more than you men." *

Look at your young men fighting
Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

D'you wear a black armband
When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
And in my first memories
They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
When everybody's fightin'
For their promised land

And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war

Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

"We practice selective annihilation of mayors
And government officials
For example to create a vacuum
Then we fill that vacuum
As popular war advances
Peace is closer" **

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
In a human grocery store
Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway

Now, how can you say that means nothing?

I agree. Jimmy Page is a god. I love Jimi Hendrix ( I don't think he is slightly overrated, He is godly too)

For me it would be Jimmy Page>Gilmour>Hendrix>Clapton

Syd Barrett is awesome, It's sad that many people believe he's dead, but I think his importance comes in giving inspiration (I mean Wish You Were Here, Shine on You Crazy Diamond etc) are awesome. As I mentioned before Wish You Were Here is my favorite Pink Floyd song. (As for LZ goes, it's a tie between Stairway to Heaven & Tangerine...and maybe Fool in the Rain< I love the caribbean rhythm)

Then there is Santana,George Harrison,Pete Townshend,Eddie Van Halen

Pete Townshend is godly for me too. The Who is one of my favorite bands ever.

Hendrix is defiantly one of the greatest guitarists ever but I don’t think he deserves the No.1 spot. Gilmour is slightly better than Clapton with an Electric guitar.

At first Hendrix was better than Clapton but after watching the Cream Reunion Concert, it became clear to me than Clapton had become better than Hendrix.

Yes, Eddie Van Halen is awesome as is George Harrison and Pete Townshend but I find Santana overrated, I consider Slash a better guitarist.

Ah I wanted to go to the Cream Reunion Concert in NY but I found about it like 3 weeks ago. I was like WTF:( I missed it!.... oh well
Crying

Santana is Ok. I'm not a big fan of him. But he must usually be mentioned when talking about great guitarists.

Welcome to the Jungle is awesome and has a really nice opening riff, and does a good job exposing the dark side of Los Angeles and doing drugs, and I like how Slash makes those Missile silo sounds at the end of the solo.

Thunderstruck is also awesome and has a cool intro, not exactly sure what it mean though. It’s probably being really amazed by something or referring to someone about to be electrocuted in an electric chair.

My favorite Led Zeppelin song is Stairway to Heaven. It's so soulful...
I just love Jimmy Page's guitar work! Very Happy

I don't like them. That Don't'cha(or whatever) song drives me crazy.

Anyone is into Punk? (Old Punk I mean, not Green Day or that stuff)

I love the Sex Pistols,The Damned, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, New York Dolls, Buzzcocks, The Stranglers, Iggy Pop & The Stooges, Richard Hell,The Velvet Undeground,The Misfits and so on.

I think VU is my favorite though. Lou Reed rocks. Venus in Furs is my favorite song by them ( Sweet Jane is awesome too)

I’m not into Punk, but I don’t diss it at all, since its real punk. I annoys me to no end when people claim bands like Green Day, Blink182, and Simple Plan are Punk Rock.

I don't like them much. It annoys me when people refer to them as "Punk".

Gone are the days of the Sex Pistols...

Sad
