As the saying goes, "It's sex, drugs and Rock n Roll. The rappers have added violence to the mix. Throughout the years there have been many songs for or against drug use. Like White Rabbit and Cocaine to name a few. Songs do have an influence over kids, and these famous people do influence their behavior. An entertainer can chose to sing about the positive and be an inspiration. No parents were upset that their daughters were listening to Destiny's Child, because the message was positive. The gangster rappers could change their whole message and be positive, parents wouldn't be so upset if the message was positive. Instead, the message that comes across glamorizes the violence, the street life of gangs. Kids as young as 9 have been enticed into gangs.
Parents are fighting a losing battle to keep their kids away from gangs, from drugs, and the very real possibility of dying from either one of these evils. I'm not talking about censorship, I'm talking about a entertainer's choice to be a positive influence on society instead of a negative one.
We expect our sports figures to be good role models, why not entertainers? Why do they get a bye on this one?

Music enlists a mood in the listener. When a person is only listening to music that sets a negative tone, their mood turns negative, and they start to believe the lyrics of a song. Just think of the different moods you are in when you listen to different types of music. You get totally different reactions to Classical, Jazz, Classic rock, alternative rock, punk rock, country and Rap. My husband, the alternative rock fan, realized this himself. Listening to alternative rock while driving to work seemed to make him angry and left him in a foul mood when he got to work. He has since switched to listening to classical or jazz music. Gone is the road rage, and he arrives at his destination more relaxed. In college, I found that listening to Classical music in the morning and while studying helped me concentrate and Rock music hindered my concentration. There's a really cool movie called, "What the Bleep do we know?", that shows how our brains form really well worn pathways of our most frequent emotions.
You can check for a showing near you at www.whatthebleep.com.

I hate all of those freaking singers. You can't even hear what they are saying. My family likes them and I want to throw the CD out the window. I hate all the old people, they need to burn all the CDs they are selling, and never make anymore again.

Yes…that’s right…Let’s all get rid of real music and listen to crap…

And PG, that’s not real music. That’s some idiot talking crap while others attempt to play instruments.

Also, Q95 is a rock station and they need to be torn down, especially the perverted old people who talk on there, Bob and Tom. They made fun of our Middle School initials. Pendleton Middle School which is PMS. They need to grow up, when they are already like 75.

You mean old rock songs that are considered the greatest ever, by people who know about music.

The only people that really have a taste in music, is if they actually listen to something that means something. Mostly all the old rock songs are about drugs, sex, and women. It is retarded.

Yeah, I’m talking about musical artists not people that play the cd’s on a radio station. And this is classic rock, not the mainstream crap people are listing to now.

Songs about Drugs aren’t always put in a positive light. They used to sing about the real world. You obviously know nothing about classic rock. Yeah, all Pink Floyd did was sing about Sex, Women and Drugs…

HRH doesnt know anything about Pink Floyd.

Just ignore him. This whole argument is getting a little bit out of hand.

And on a more positive note I love Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd

I was listening to that a while ago; right now I’m listening to the exteneded version of comfortably numb, which has my second favorite guitar solo. Gilmour is a genius.
