just thought of this.. if cedric was the perfect boy.. then why was he in hufflepuff? for entering his name in the goblet of fire i thought he was pretty brave.. and to figure out stuff in the triwizard tournament he must have been really smart..
so how did he not end up in either Ravenclaw or Gryffindor?
Maybe it was simply because he wanted to be in Hufflepuff? That's really what the sorting hat does.. just puts you in the house you want to be in. _________________

i suppose.. i actually just thought of sumthing.. they wanted him to be a seeker.. they wanted malfoy and cho to be one too.. only option was hufflepuff
Cedric was brave, without a shadow of a doubt. He was also loyal and hard-working. So he would have fit nicely into either house. But maybe he valued loyalty and hard work over bravery. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!
JKr said the sorting hat has never made a mistake. Of c ourse he was brave, but he was also loyal and hard working. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!

That's what I was thinking also.. Lot's of people value Loyalty over anything else.. That is probably why he was put into Hufflepuff.
We all know that Bella was put into Slytherin and she was Voldy's most trusted servant. I some Slytherin's can be quite loyal too.
Yup, especially Bellatrix. Most of the characters would have been good in many of the diffferent houses. That's why I think it has to do more with their values and not necassarily what they are. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!
Maybe the rest of his family was in hufflepuff and he wanted to be the same! I know people like sirius arent always in the same house as the rest of their family but the sorting hat could have given him what he wanted like he did to Harry! _________________

Just because you have some qualities (being smart and brave) Doesn't mean that certain houses are the ONLY ones you can go into. I mean he obviously had some other quality that over rode all of that to place him in Hufflepuff. _________________ 12", Holly, Dragon Heartstring core

Yeah I don't think its as simple as brave -> gryffindor, smart -> ravenclaw. Look at Hermione. I think there's alot of motivation missing about why someone would want to be in the other houses as the real main protagonists and antagonists are gryffindor and slytherin. There's alot of details missing, which I love, now we can talk about them obsessively. _________________

He seemed like he was really hard working, so that's why I thought he was in Hufflepuff. _________________

Well then what about Sirius, James and Lupin? In the Prisoner of Azkaban Sirius says to Wormtail, "THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED!" ... "DIED RATHER THAN BETRAY YOUR FRIENDS, AS WE WOULD HAVE DONE FOR YOU!"
If that's true... than isn't their value of loyalty stronger than anything else? _________________ "Mr. Padfoot would like to register his astonishment that and idiot like that ever became a professor." The Marauders Map to Snape, Prisoner of Azkaban

I think that more in a brave sense. It is very brave to die for something that you believe in. Also, a lot of the reason that a person gets put into a house is whether or not he wasnts to be there. _________________

Well Cedric is really nice for trying to defend Harry
in that graveyard. He is also very nice. I think he
would be good in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. _________________
