I really believe that Dumbledore's dead. Though it is a great comfort that he still has that portrait to remind us of him.
I don't want another Gandalf rising from the grave story. It's too escapist and I don't want JK to do that. It would weaken the plot.

It is Harry's fight from now on. I would really like to read his one-on-one battle with Voldie. All the books have been coming to that moment and it would be such a letdown if it won't happen.

i think harry will fight with his friends but not with DD maybe a little advice from the portrait on horocruxs and stuff

be realistic here, people. how convincing is it that harry, a wizard just coming of age, will defeat the dark lord? dumbledore is years beyond harry's level of magic, and is basically an even match with voldy, so no way possible will harry defeat him. it is just too much of a fairy tale ending, which JK doesn't like fantasy.

dude, its totally the classic underdog story. Harry is going to come through...whether alive or dead I'm not sure, but he's going to win. I just can't see Voldy winning, and skipping off into the sunset laughing like mad.

I have thought since I read HBP that if Dumbledore is indeed gone then he would come back via his portrait. That is if he has indeed been killed and I am not quite sure that I believe that he has... Wink

well jk did confirm his death but i dont quite belive her.

as for DD portrait i think it will play a big part. i think he will tell harry why he trusted snape and that he told him to "kill" him. this wont happen at the begining of the book but towards the end when u just noe that the battle is getting closer. then Harry's gotta work out how he's gonna get there.

Yea i have thought of that before..i think dumbledor will help harry out somehow..weather it be a book or letter he left for harry ..or through the portrait. i think the portraits do display there personality but maybe only the goods parts of their life they remember
