In Chapter 1, "The Riddle House", Frank Bryce overhears LV and Wormtail discussing "one more" murder that LV needs Wormtail to commit. Wormtail is resisting. LV says at one point (quoting from the US version here),

You will do it quietyly and without fuss; I only wish that I could do it myself, but in my present condition...Come, Wormtail, one more death and our path to Harry Potter is clear. I am not asking you to do it alone. By that time, my faithful servant will have rejoined us--" |
Later in the same chapter, LV says

| "One more murder...my faithful servant at Hogwarts...Harry Potter is as good as mine, Wormtail. It is decided. There will be no more argument." |
Then, in Chapter 29 - "The Dream", Harry has a "vision" while in Trewlaney's class where he sees LV and Wormtail again. He hears this:

"You are in luck, Wormtail, " said a cold high-pitched voice from the depths of the chair in which the owl had landed. "You are very fortunate indeed. Your blunder has not ruined everything. He is dead."
"My Lord!" gasped the man on the floor. "My Lord, I am...I am so pleased. . . and so sorry. ..." |
My question is this: Whom do you think LV and Wormtail were discussing murdering in Chapter 1? It's not Harry, because LV says one more death and the path to Harry Potter is clear.
Then, in Harry's dream, whom do you think it is that Wormtail has accidentally killed? It's not Bertha Jorkins. Is it Barty Crouch, Sr.?
It sounds to me like the two excerpts are referring to the different killings. Do you?

The first quote might be something left from the original story, before she re-wrote a third of the book.
I think the other person their talking about is crouch sr. |

The faithfull sevant is Crouch Jr. So he's not going to kill him... maybe he is already planning a way to get to Harry, so he could be talking about Sirius. Or maybe even Dumbledore...

Wasn't this some future look, or something. I believe that this meant that Harry was dead. So it was some kind of strange what-if-visioen.
Wormtails bluder was the fact that he ran into Berta Jorkins, he was suppost to be dead and she worked at the MoM.

Wormtail was supposed to gaurd Crouch senior while he was under the imperius curse, remember? His blunder was letting him escape. But it did not matter as his son killed him and the dark lord's plan did not fail.

Frank Bryce and Bertha Jorkins, with Volemort's wand.
Also, he was supposed to be watching Barty Sr, but he escaped, which created problems beacuse he was gunna tell. Fake!Moody killed him, though. Either way, they died. Cedric wasn't killed for anyone's benefit and he wasn't of any of their concerns.

Wormtail was never supposed to kill Moody. That wasn't part of the plan at any moment. Crouch Jr needed him to be alive for info and polyjuice potion. Moody was no good to them dead. I'm sure eventually he would have been killed.. but not until later, so those comments couldn't have been about him.
