Is it just me or does the new dumbelldore(the actor they have started useing sine the 3rd movie) realy not fit the part, the first actor was excelent. Dumbelldore is airy and calm and misteruious and wise man, not jumpy and angy and rushed man like the new actor displays. l think he ruins it for the people that have not read the books and see the movies.

Yeah, I do agree that Michael Gambon makes Dumbledore seem a bit too... I dunno, loud? Or something. I liked Richard Harris better.

Still, he's doing a pretty good job.

Ya - I agree - first guy was great - to bad he died. Dumbledore was suposed to be calm and easy-going - not like a hyper loud jumpy kind of guy - What was it - the sixth book I think - where Harry was throwing all Dumbledore's stuff around - Dumbledore was calm - I can't imagine this new guy doing it - It doesn't fit - The only thing I can imagine him doing in response to Harry's actions is beating him over the head with a baseball bat. The new Dumbledore sucks!!! I loved the old one, if only he had lived a few years more!

Yeah...I've got to agree with you guys. The first actor was much better. He just seemed to fit the role of Dumbledore better. He even looked more like how I pictured Dumbledore in my head. This new guy seems to rash and jumpy. I really wish that the actor hadn't died. I really liked how he played Dumbledore. But, I think it would be disrespectful if this new guy tried to pull off what the old actor did. He would never be able to. I think it is better that he does his own thing. Do you get what I mean?

I personally think that a lot of the issues that have arisin with the new Dumbledore should be attributed to the director. No, not all of his flaws are just the director, but I mean, he does have the final say on the scene.

I agree, and they will have a problem in the 5th movie, because in the book Dumbledore warns Umbridge that she isn't allowed to harm Marina. (When Umbridge wants marina to back up her story.) But he does so himself, in the 4th movie with Harry.

I think it was the 5th book. Anyway, the first Dumbledore was much better. He reminded me of the type that would never lose his head. He stayed calm, kinda airy, and he looked the part. The second guy is way to jumpy. He is too loud and energetic. He looks like someone who looses his head quite often. Like he did in the Goblet of fire movie. He also does not strike me as being wise.
Those are my thought on the issue.

The new one's starting to grow on me a bit. But I still think he's too blatant and loud and out-of-control, and a bit senile. "It's maddening". He sounded so crazy there. But he's got the whole engimatic thoughtfulness thing down. He sort of put his own twist on Dumbledore. Really, though, I liked Richard Harris better.

The old dumbledore was a lot more fitting to the character description. He was kind, warmhearted, and had a kind of twinkle in his eye. the new Dumbledore ties up his beard, and I find that very irksome. If the old Dumbledore got pissed off, it would be like "uh-oh. Someone's getting their ass kicked BIG TIME. You don't wanna piss off Dumbledore"! With the new Dumbledore, it's like "oh boy, here he goes again". You know what I mean?

P.S: Isn't there already a topic on this?

i don't think he is quite as good as the other dumbledores, but i still like him.
i think he does a good job.
if people hadn't read the book when they saw the movie, it'd just seem like his character was becoming stressed and evolving.

Richard Harris was the best Dumbeldore hands down.
He really got his charicter across to the way we first thought of him.

Every one rember Richard Harris the one true Dumbledore.

I like the older one better... Way better. And I think that this one is really uptight and so.. not Dumbledore-ish. But really, who could live up to the bar set by the first one? They could have definately found someone better than this new guy, but it'd be really hard to find someone close to being as good as the first one.

i know. i must agree...i really dont lk the new actor. Richard Harris was much better for the part. Michael Gambon is a incredible actor but he's not quite fit for the part of Dumbledore. He's too rough and acts quickly. Harris was much more fit for the part in my opinion.

Sad Richard Harris the true Dumbledore!! Sad But it is my oppinion that the director has a lot to do with the problem. The movies are getting farther & farther from the books. Look at GOF, Barty Crouch jr. was not in the house w/Voldemort and Harry has to rush back from seeing the dragons to talk to Sirris' head in the fire, not the other way round like in the movie
