i can agree. hes almost 17 and hes supose to tackel voldy and 7 of his hoxcus...i dont think i spelled it right. so we know dumbledore and harry each got 1. so thats 2 of the 7 and someone named r.a.b. has eather destroyed one or hidden it. also ..on another note the 7th book better be longer than the 5th. it got way to short when she made the half blood prince.

Don't forget he could come back as a ghost in hogwarts. JK did have that little exert between harry and nearly headless nick on why some spirits move on and others stay behind. I know it was in regards to Sirius at the time but maybe it could have been forshadowing DD coming back, even if it was as a ghost or briefly. Remeber JK only confirmed that he was infact dead. not that he would not play a part in the last book. If he came back as a ghost or a portait then he would infact be dead.

So, lets say that DD becomes a ghost, will his portrait still speak? DD would have to come back as a ghost, because of unfinished business or for the fact that he was scared of passing on. Let's go with unfinished business; once that business is taken care of, would DD then pass on or stay as a ghost?

I would be afraid to even answer it. Because that would mean no more DD, besides the portrait, in my eyes.

I don't think that he'd stay as a ghost.

I don't really believe that the portrait will offer much guidance. It's not Dumbledore framed- it's just a picture of him that says things that he's said in the past, or would say in that situations. Little anicdotes, not advice.

I believe that Dumbledore lives on IN Harry- not around him.

I thought this for a very long time..there is no doubt the dumbledore in the painting will awake...but i wondered how much those paintings know from the persons actual life..and i think everything..cuz the one portrait..i believe sirius's uncle said he remembered students and how he treated them...so hopefully that will be the case for dumbledore

The Diary Horcrux contained the essence of Tom Riddle at 16 years old.

What we don't know is where the painting can act and learn of its own accord - like the tom riddle in the diary. That horcrux had its own plans...

So you could explain to the painting, how the real DD came to die, and get from the painted DD his theories ...over his own death!! Interesting.. Very Happy Very Happy

I highly dought it. Dumbledore is way to wise. He knows what the consaquinces of passing on as a ghost are. Once you become a ghost, you can never R.I.P. DD is not going to waste his after life to be with Harry.
