A pet peeve about the fifth movie...Hermione speaks way too fast.

All my friends who have seen it say "Oh, that's just her character.." etc etc, but seriously, it's strayed from "character" to "bad acting". When you can't understand what she's saying, you can't understand the character, right? Did anyone else have this problem?

I love Emma and all but she really needed to pronounciate a bit more. Smile

To be honest, I think she got worse in acting as she got older. She's still a good actress, but she does need to work on some things.

She does move her eyebrows around a lot. It's seems like a bit of over-acting...

...but it doesn't bother me much.

Yeah, that eyebrow thing she does is soooo annoying! She really over-does it in GoF.

She does talk pretty fast, but I could understand her most of the time.

The director probably told them they had to fit 700ish pages into 2:15 and Emma took that as "talk fast!" Smile

There has always been something about Hermione in the movies that bothered me. I don't want to say that it is Emma, because it could just be the directors and how they are bringing Hermione to life. I did not think that she talked too fast in this one, but my mom always says that I talk "a mile a minute." I have no idea how she came up with that phrase, but it means that I talk way too fast.

As for whether she holds a candle to Daniel's acting, that would be a negative. Daniel is brilliant. His acting is superb.

I completely agree with you, I was thinking the exactly same thing- especialy the scene in Grimwald when the three see eachother again.
And it was not Hermione's character- I think it was just bad acting/directing

I thought Emma did superb in this movie. Her first line was a bit rushed, but that was the only one I thought was bad. If you ask me, she gets better as she goes along. The first movie, you could tell she was just starting out, but this one was very realistic, in my opinion. I truly saw her as Hermione!
The only thing I disagree with is the way she does her hair. It might just be a little thing, but I wish it were busheir--makes the character come alive!

As far as the directors and writers are concerned, any sex appeal they can squeeze out trumps the character being true to the books.

You know, Emma at times her acting gets to me and makes me go ugh... however her speaking fast i think is normal... i mean we all speak pretty fast and she was speaking at normal speed at all times. some people speak really fast more than others and you know what I always thought of Hermione to speak fast anyways. Now if Harry Potter was a play she would be screwed... because she sometimes swallows her lines, which is normal for a person to do, really tape record yourself through the day and you will notice that you speak fast and sometimes swallow your words, however even though she swallows her lines, its on cam, which makes it more clearer than it would be on stage and she is acting normal. Now the whole eyebrow thing does get to me... i have a friend who tries to have eyebrow wars with Hermione when she watches GoF. Might i add this friend can only move one eye brow so its pretty entertaining... but then again eyebrow movement is normal but in some places she over does it... which the director should catch and tell her to re-do and tell her to lighten up on the eyebrow movement.

to be honest...i think emma is a good actress. she's a teenager so she's still working on it. i mean, considering her age i think she does very well. i think daniel is brilliant. his scene when sirius died... it made me cry. Crying

Well, I personally like her acting. Yes its got worse. But so has Dans! I'd say shes better at acting than Daniel by loads. Yeah I liked him in the first 3 films. Even the fourth he was ok. But now in the Oder of the Phoenix. Its got me to think..

"Is he just not bothering 'cause hes got all the money..?"

I've noticed Emmas breathing and talking fast, but I'd say it fits her character well and I like it..
