Harry Potter has his mother's eyes. I don't see why you would have a problem with this. Explain why it's bugging you, please. _________________

we know harry has lilys eyes, but jkr seems to bring it up about 7 times a book. it doesnt even mention harrys hair thet much, and when it does there is more emphasis on the eyes _________________ but perhaps those who are best suited to power are those who have never sought it. | Yeah, she does bring it up so often I feel it must have some significance, but I can't think what that significance could be! |

The eyes are the gateway into the soul. Also, note that Olivander is the first person to point out that Harry has Lily's eyes. Maybe that's a factor in wand preferance. _________________

Maybe when Harry was born, he didnt have Lily's eyes. Then after Lily performed the spell, that gave Harry his protection against Voldie, Harry got Lily's eyes.
Yeah i know it is a bit far-fetched. _________________ I made this Sig

Oh my gosh, it is so annoying to read about Harry meeting a new character and the first thing they say is "oh, you have your mother's eyes." JK needs to find something new for them to say... _________________

Maybe it's a hint that his eyes will be important in the 7th book. JKR wouldn't just keep repeating it for no reason, considering all the other traits he inherited are usually left out or don't figure as prominently. But she's subtle like that. _________________ I was born intellligent, but education ruined me.

| I know this is off subject but aren't we supposed to find out what Harry's parents profession was. I mean, I know they were in the order and stuff, but it doesn't say what they did for a living. I don't suspect they are aurors, it is too obvious. I think it would be cool if they worked for Dumbledore, like spys or something but not as dumb. Something like they find info about LV and do dangerous tasks for DD. |

| ok...i know what the eyes mean...harry always thinks that when snape looks into his eyes, snape is doing legilimens but in actual fact when snape was in school he was in love with lily and he loved her eyes and james went out with her instead. when he looks into harry's eyes he sees lily and softens. but because he is james' son he hates harry. i believe that lily and snape had a fling or something. |

It doesn't seem annoying to me that people keep pointing out that Harry has his mother's eyes. People tell me all the time that I look like my mom. I imagine that, if she were dead, they would mention it more often. _________________

You're right, it is significant. Rowling has said so. _________________ Long live J.K. Rowling and her masterpiece! |

No she doesn't, she's forshadowing the significance of Harry having his mother's eyes. She has said that it will be significant. And I'm guessing it will be VERY significant, considering how many times she's mentioned the similiarity. _________________ Long live J.K. Rowling and her masterpiece! |

Sorry, I highly doubt that. Snape's like Draco remember, he's into pure blood and all that, never mind that he's a halfblood himself. He called Lily a mudblood, remember? _________________ I was born intellligent, but education ruined me.

I highly doubt it, too, but it's still a clever, well thought-out theory. Do you have a better one? _________________ Long live J.K. Rowling and her masterpiece! |

Or maybe it has nothing to do with the eyes itself...
We all know that Harry hates Snape. Lily on the other hand was forgiving towards a lot of people...
What if Harry having Lily's eyes would mean that his eyes are the same color and shape, but also that he is going to see things the way his mother did...
| Quote: |
Harry's eye color (or something about his eyes resembling his mother's) is very important to this book.
(Many chats; World Book Day, most recently, but there's also this nugget from the Boston Globe from 1999: "But he has his mother's eyes and that's very important in a future book."

i think the significance in the eyes has to do with lily and her talent for charms. maybe that will help harry out. _________________ life is what you make of it. |

I think it's to keep shipper from saying he was someone else's baby. You just know someone's gonna say that Lily wasn't his real mother if JKR didn't keep pointing out that Harry had his mother's eyes. Plus, I think it's also the fact that people miss Harry's mother (and father). They miss her, maybe. _________________ |
