Hogwarts Express
Chapter five

The note that Hermione had gotten form her parents shocked her. They may never be home but they do manage to come home to see her off to Hogwarts. She was worried that something was wrong maybe they had gotten hurt by DE‘s that‘s what scared her the most. They could of made her write that note, no one would ever know. Until that time when her parents never showed up at home, she wanted to find out before it was to late. She was going to go to professor Dumbledore when she got to Hogwarts after the sorting feast, maybe he would know what was happening with her parents she would feel a little bit better asking him anyway. She woke up that morning at 8:00 AM. Yes she was running very late.. She had to be at Platform and ¾ before 11 o clock to make the train so she had to hustle. She did not know how she was getting there. Maybe she would take the train to London that would only take 20 minuets. She would have to leave at 10 o clock to make it on time. She decided to go down stairs and grab something to eat really fast before she took a shower. When she heard a knock on the door she went to answer it and found it to be Neville.

“Oh, hi Neville what can I do for you?”

“Well I noticed that your parents are not home and thought maybe I should come over and see if you needed a ride to the train. Gran said it’s ok.”

Hermione looked at him suspiciously, wait you just noticed that my parents were not home. Dumbledore set you up to this didn’t he.

Neville turned red. “Yeah he did, So do you want to come with us? We are leaving about 10:30.”

“Yeah, I will be over to your house at 10:20 ok.” She said looking at him.

“Yeah that’s fine. See you in about 2 hours” he walked away

“Bye!” Hermione called after him but he did not hear her.

She walked back in the house and grabbed some eggs. She wanted her breakfast to be good. After all she was probably not going to eat again until the sorting feast. She was head girl and had to meet the head boy and all the prefects in the train compartment when she got on the train. She had a feeling she knew who the head boy was. But she was not sure. She did not now know how she felt about this. After all she wanted to become friends with him if in fact he was head boy. He knew this already, he did take the truth potion that she gave him. So she knew that he was telling the truth when he said that he wanted to become friends. After she ate her eggs she decided to take a shower and get ready for the oncoming day. After her shower and the time it took her to get dressed it was already time for her to leave for Neville’s house so she got her trunk and left.

When Hermione got to Neville’s house she knocked on the door and waited for someone to answer.

“Hello Dear” said Neville’s gran. “how have you been?”

“Hi Mrs. Longbottom. I guess I’m doing as best as expected. You know with my parents being away and all.”

“You know dear, you could of came and stayed with us. Or the Weasley’s that would have been better then being home all by yourself. I seen boys around your house that Malfoy kid, are you sure your ok?”

“Yes, I’m fine he was just asking a question. He was not doing anything wrong.” Hermione looked away as if she was feeling guilty.

“Ok, well come in dear we are going by floo to the station.” it’s the fastest and safest way.” Hermione walked into the house and seen Neville at the table. She decided to go sit by him until it was time to leave.

“Hey Neville.” she said

“Hi, Have you eaten yet? We have plenty of food here, If your hungry.”

“Yes, I have thanks.” She said as she was looking out the window. It was going to be a nice day. If not a little warm. Hermione looked at her watch and noticed it was 10:35 A.M. Just 10 more minuets and she would be able to see Ron again. She was really nervous about this meeting because he did not notice her at all during Diagon Alley. She really wanted him to notice her. And she was running out of idea’s.

“Are you ready dear” Neville’s Grandma asked. Hermione was startled out of her thoughts, she looked up to see both Neville and His grandmother looking at her. She blushed

“Yes, I was just lost in thought.” she said. “I’m all ready to go.” At this everyone got up and headed over to the fire. Neville went first..

“Platform 9 ¾” he shouted as he threw the powder down. Green flames enveloped him and he was gone. Next was Hermione’s turn. She grabbed the powder and stepped into the floo.

“Platform 9 ¾” she said the next thing she knew was that she was in a place full of noise. Cat’s meowing, owls hooting everything you could think of. She looked up, she seen the familiar head of red but it was not Ron it was Bill. She wondered what he was doing here, she thought he was off working.

“Oh, hello Bill” she said as she looked at him for a minuet “How have you been?” She thought he looked rather cute. Even though she never thought of him as anything other then Ron’s older brother before. Bill turned around.

“Hermione!” He said.. It’s nice to see you, It’s been way to long” he came up and gave her a hug. “I have been really well” he said after he let her go. “Very busy with work.” He started to look around.. “Now where did Harry and Ron run of to. Probably to go find Ron’s new Girlfriend. What was her name.. Lana umm no that’s not right” he looked confused

“Luna” Hermione was crushed but did not let it show.

“Yes, that’s it” he said “Luna Lovegood he’s been obsessed with her all summer they hooked up a couple weeks ago actually. But they have been talking by owl all summer.” He suddenly looked at her “You made Head girl this year didn’t you, always knew you would make it. Smartest witch of your age, everyone’s always said that.” Hermione blushed

“Thanks” she said “HERMIONE” yelled Harry “there you are, where have you been? Oh hey Bill. The rest of the gang is over there. Except Ron.” Bill left to go say by to the rest of his family.

“Oh, Neville and his Gran let me use their floo. So that’s why I’m here a little late.. Where is Ron?” Harry looked a little bit uncomfortable.

“What’s wrong Harry?” she asked but knowing full well what was wrong.

“Well you see.. Umm, Ron, Well, he has a.. He and Luna” he could not get out what he wanted to say.

“Him and Luna are dating. Yeah Bill told me” She smirked. Harry gave her a weird look.

“Malfoy has been rubbing of on you.. Now your smirking like him” he said. Where is he anyway?”

“I don’t know have not seen him yet. Hey Harry we better get on the train. It leaves in 10 minuets. They picked up their stuff and got on. They went to get a compartment. But it seemed like they were all full. Finally the back of the train they found one empty. They sat down and talked about random stuff. About an hour later Hermione said her good byes and made her way to the heads compartment. She was really carious to see who head boy was. This person she would have to spend most her time with. She would have to throw the end of the year ball and maybe even a Yule ball. That would be fun she thought as she finally got to the compartment. She was first there so she went in and sat down.

“Granger.. So they made you Head Girl. Should of known” said Malfoy as he made his way into the compartment.

“Malfoy” she said. “They decide to keep up the appearance that they were not friends. It would be so much easier then trying to explain to everyone how and why they suddenly became friends after six years of hating each other.

“And your Head Boy” she said

“I thought that would be a bit obvious, I’m best for the job.” He smiled she thought it looked good on him. It was a smile not a smirk or a half smile. A real smile that almost reached to his eyes. For the rest of the trip Draco and Hermione talked. About stuff that other people would find quite boring. She thought maybe she could actually get along with him. He talks about other stuff then Qudditch. About a hour later the perfects came in and they had a meeting with them for a short time just basically telling them when the next meeting was going to be so they could set up patrolling and other stuff.

~~~Draco’s POV~~~

Wow she’s gotten really pretty since I seen her last. Her hair is straight and falls down just below her shoulders. And her eyes. Wow her eyes are the most pretty brown I have ever seen. Looks like chocolate rich warm chocolate right out of the oven. I really want to become friends with her. She’s perfect why did I not see that before. She’s everything that I have always wanted.

~~Hermione’s POV~~

I knew it would be Draco. Just knew it. He cut his hair. It’s really cute. Not gelled back like he used to do in 1st year. I like it like that. It looks nice.

Once they arrived at Hogwarts they got out of the train and headed for the carriages they would of course have to ride in one together acting like they hated each other. And as time went on they both thought that it might be really hard to keep up the act.

Note: It's really short.. But with college it's hard for me to write really long chapters and probably would take me a lot longer to get them done.
the next chapter will be done when I get it done. lol hopefully soon but it all depends on my homework and stuff.

Hogwarts
Chapter 6

When Hermione and Draco arrived at Hogwarts, they felt like they have been talking for hours when in reality it was only a couple of minuets. They stayed back to make sure all the students made it up to the Great Hall, after all they were Head boy and Girl. They had this job along with the prefects but they chose to make their way into the hall even after them. Finally they had got in to the hall, they went their separate ways, Hermione to the Gryffindor table and Draco to the Slytherin table. When Draco got to his table Pansy, of course, was looking for him.

“There you are Dracky-Poo I have been looking for you everywhere. I have not seen you all day.” Draco ignored her so she sat by him and clung to him. “What’s the matter are you in a bad mood, did you have to spend all day with mud blood Granger?” she asked him. Draco turned to look at her and sneered.

“Yes pansy I did. Now can you leave me alone I have a headache.” he looked away from her and listened to Dumbledore’s announcements focusing on him for the first time since first year. Meanwhile over at the Gryffindor table the “Golden Trio” were having their own conversations.

“Hermione, where have you been? When Luna and I got to the compartment you were gone. Harry said you went to the heads compartment. Why did you stay there the whole time?” Hermione looked at him she had been distracted by Dumbledore’s speech. She wanted to talk to him and was not really listening to anyone but him.

“Well, Dra- I mean Malfoy and I got caught up talking about some things and I just lost track of time. We did not realize what time it was until about an hour before the train got to Hogwarts then we decided to just stay there.” she looked back at the headmaster who was just getting done with his announcements, the sorting would start soon.

“You were talking to the ferret, what could he possibly have to say that’s interesting?” Ron looked confused.

“Well Ron, Malfoy actually is really intelligent. I mean he did make Head boy this year. And is second in our class.” For some reason Ron looked really mad at that, he seemed to let it go. Which really surprised Hermione she was used to the Ron that would explode at her for no reason. The next thing she knew the sorting had started.

“When I call your name you will come up and sit on the stool, I will place the hat on your head and then you will go sit with your house.” said McGonagall She read off all the names as each were called everyone clapped for the one that went into their own house. One name caught Hermione’s attention

“Blake Rowland” she said “Blake moved here form America and is being sorted in his 7th year.” Blake came up and sat on the stool and the hat was put on his head.

“My. My what do we have here.” said the hat. “ You are in your 7th year yet being sorted like a first year. Oh I see it you moved. Right, where to put you. Your loyal. Oh my are you fiercely loyal . But hufflepuff is not the place for you. Your smart also maybe even rivaling the founder herself and even one certain Gryffindor. But that’s not the house for you either is it. Your brave and Cunning but I think I will put you in… SLYTHERIN” the hat shouted the last part out. Blake stood up and walked over to where Draco was sitting and sat across from him. He was aware of a pair of Chocolate brown eyes on him the whole time. He tired to ignore it but the feeling got to be to much so he looked around and scanned the hall. He found her table and looked at her but to his utter surprise it was not him that she was looking at but Draco. He found that to be mildly amusing but also very good, very good indeed. He stole one more glance at her then looked back at Draco whom seemed to be in the very depth of his mind. From experience Blake new that this was the making of a great relationship, one that would rile up the whole wizarding world. As he was finishing up his dinner Dumbledore stood up.

“Would the Head boy and Girl come to my office after dinner.” he looked at both Hermione and Draco his eyes twinkling “ Thank you” once dinner was done Hermione said goodbye to Ron and Harry and said she would see them tomorrow. She walked up to the headmaster’s office and as she got there she realized that she did not know the password yet.

“Granger” said a voice out of the shadows. Hermione looked up a bit surprised.

“Oh, it’s just you Malfoy you gave me a fright” she looked around “Do you know the password? Malfoy was about to answer when the stone Gargoyle jumped aside. Hermione and Draco made there way up the staircase. When they got there Draco knocked.

“Enter” said a voice within. Hermione and Draco both entered, and went to take a seat.

“Lemon drop” they both declined and sat looking awkward for a while until Dumbledore spoke again.

“Well I think it appropriate if I show your dorm rooms now” he said getting up.. They both got up and followed him out of his office.

“Here we are” he said coming to a stop in front of a portrait with 2 people on it. Looked to be a old Head Boy and Girl. Hermione thought it might have been the first Head Boy and Girl.

“You cant change your password unless both of you agree on it.” he looked between them to make sure they understood. The password now is fides of amicitia*. I will leave you both to explore your common rooms and rooms. Good day.” he turned to leave but turned back around.

“Miss Granger can I talk to you in privet over here for one moment.” he looked at her over his half moon spectacles.

“Sure” she turned to follow him when he said “Mr. Malfoy you can go into your common room now. Dumbledore waited until he was sure Draco was in the common room.

“Your parents are fine Miss Granger. You are right they were attacked by rough death eaters but a couple near by wizards saved their lives.. They are at the moment in hiding and the only way any letters can get through to them is either between myself or Professor Snape. You can talk to him later about making arrangements to write to them.” he stopped and looked at her. “they will have their memories erased. I don’t think it was a planned attack but we will keep them in hiding for awhile just to make sure. That is all you may go and explore your common room now.”

As she headed into the common room she heard Dumbledore say “If only those two would realize the love they share.” and the portrait closed.

“What did he have to talk to you about?” He pounced on her the second she stepped into the room.

“Nothing Malfoy. He just had to tell me something about my parents.” she said this as she took in her surroundings. Everything was either Gryffindor red or Slytherin silver. It was so wonderful together. There were 2 couches and one loveseat in front of the fire. And 2 comfy chairs off to the side, around the walls were desks that you could sit and do your homework and there had to be at least 7 bookshelves filled with books from ceiling to floor. The furniture was mahogany wood and everything matched. She decided to go and check out her room. On one side up the stairs was her room and on the other was his. In the middle of a balcony was the bathroom.

“I guess we have to share a bathroom she said observing the beautiful way that the room was built.

“Yeah, and you don’t have a problem with that” part of his Malfoy sneer back in place.

“ As long as you stay out of my way Malfoy, then no I don’t, she said storming off to her side of the room and going up the stairs.

Going up the stairs she came to a portrait of .. Herself. And as she looked at it, it spoke.

“What is the one thing that you will always love?” Hermione thought about it for a couple of minuets then answered.

“My friends” she looked to see what would happen next.

“Correct, Now what do you want your password to be?” she thought about this for a couple more minuets before finally coming up with her answer.

“Amour des amis” she said. The portrait nodded and opened the door. If she thought that the common room was pretty then she gasped at the sight of her room. It was draped in Gryffindor colors with a hint of silver here and there. She wondered why but decided that they wanted to keep the design of the common room. She had a huge four poster bed with a matching dresser and vanity. Her wardrobe was a huge walk in closet. She decided to go to bed now and explore some more tomorrow after classes.

The next morning Hermione woke up and marveled at how her room looked so much different in the morning light compared to night. She went to get her stuff so she could take a shower. She had a door to the bathroom in her room and the one out side.. She realized that Malfoy probably had the same set up as her. Hermione opened the door and stood there Malfoy, with only a towel on was dripping wet form his shower and once he realized that she was staring at him he turned around.

“Like what you see?”

“Well, Umm, Yes I mean No,” she turned around and left the room blushing scarlet. While Draco smirked. About five minuets later Draco knocked on Hermione’s door and told her that he was done and the shower was all hers. So she went into the room and locked the doors firmly muggle and wizard ways, she was not taking any chance.

She got down to the Great Hall just as breakfast was starting and she sat down in between her two favorite people in the world.

“Hey Harry, Ron what’s going on?”

“Oh nothing they answered at the same time.” They were looking pretty gloomy and she wondered why.

“What’s wrong with you two” she asked while starting to pull some food toward her.

“Well, your not going to be in the common room any more. How are we going to spend time together.?” Harry said looking down at his plate.

“Guys don’t worry.. We will be able to hang out just as much as we did every other year. The only difference is that I have my own common room and I’m head girl. I will have a bit more to do because of that but I wont neglect you I promise.” she looked up as McGonagall started to pass out time tables.

“Hello professor, How have you been all summer?”

“Oh just fine, just fine. Long summer glad that school started” she handed them there schedules and started to head off down the table.” Hermione looked at hers and sighed. Why do they insist on putting Gryffindor and Slytherin together and in potions. She never understood that. Just as she was reading over her classes she heard a moan.

“Oh man Snape, double potions, first class again How am I going to get through that?” Harry said groaning.

“Sorry about that mate but I did not take him this year. Did not have a good enough owl to get in. I’m kind of happy about that actually.” Just as they were about to get up to leave for class someone shouted across the hall.

“HEY POTTER, LOOKING GOOD, MIGHTY SEXY IF YOU ASK ME.” Harry blushed and rushed out of the Great hall.

that was really good I must say....and good choice, you're right, they wouldn't just automatically be friends, I don't care what kind of spell Draco was under.

a beta is someone who edits a story for the writer. a beta's job is to look for grammer mistakes and the like and correct it before the story is released to the general public.

ohhhh....ok. I can be a beta. I drive my friends crazy with pointing out mistakes in books, but I'm useful when people want me to do that stuff Wink
