I think the 5th movie was amazing!! Even though it was the longest book, they managed to include all the great parts! I'm really glad that David Yates is going to be directing the 6th one, too! Can't wait!! _________________ RON: You try putting up tinsel when Peeves has got the other end and is trying to strangle you with it.

i didn't hate it at all,
but i was amazed that they made the longest book the shortest movie.
they missed out on HEAPS.
and about some people hating it, i heard the director was new and he did the movie a bit differently.
all the HP movies are enjoyable though. _________________

Its true:) i just can't not LOVE a harry potter film! I think it helps if u try not to think of the book while watching the movie bcoz lets face it, the movie can never be as good as our imagination. If u just watch the movie as a movie, not comparing it to the book, then its great fun. _________________ RON: You try putting up tinsel when Peeves has got the other end and is trying to strangle you with it.

Yes, i've decided i'm going to wathc the movie when it come out, (obviously,) but then i wouldn't have just read the book. (i hope, as i am ussually reading harry potter now.) i think i will find it better, as i won't be able to remember EXCACTLY what it said in the book at that time in the movie, and how much it missed. _________________

I have to say that I feel, from Prisoner of Azkaban onwards, that each film has been rushed and is aimed only at the avid readers, with no second though about explaining anything thoroughly. It's as if the movies are to simply get the plot down; there's little answers to the why's and the how's, it's just the what's.
However, I have to say that they did quite a good job of conveying this book into a film. Everything seemed to be exactly as I imagined, particularly Bellatrix. I've managed to find the final battle on Youtube and I've been repeatedly watching it, just for the sake of it. The way the Death Eaters were flying, entwined with the Aurors, muffled by Bellatrix' cackles ... it was, overall, bloody brilliant. _________________

It was OKAY.
I was definitely dissapointed about all the missing parts, and the plot change.. Like it wasnt supposed to be Cho that told about the DA. & Neville wasnt the one who was supposed to find the RoR.
But I guess I love the movies all the same, nothing could make me absolutly hate HP :] _________________ нαяяy pοттєя<3

u cant really explain everything in the move the way you can in the books... theres just not enought time
and if they did make the movie longer to fit the stuff in there, people would be complaining about how the movie just drags on
i was a little disappointed with the battle at the ministry though. i think it would hav been worth it to show a little bit more of the battle from the book, like the spinning doors in the circular room and the brains that try to strangle ron, i think it would hav just made it more interesting. because the final battle in the movie is actually not very long _________________ Bloody Hell!!

Yea Dan was brilliant! Especially the part when Sirius died and when Voldemort was possessing him, that was some incredible acting! _________________ RON: You try putting up tinsel when Peeves has got the other end and is trying to strangle you with it.

I have to agree that it might help to think of the films as their own series.
ootp as a film felt very thrown together. It seemed that if I hadn't been reading the books and watching the films (i.e. if i was under a rock) I might feel confunded. I knew they were going to leave stuff out, but it seemed like they left some really critical stuff out. On the other hand, Helena as Bellatrix was perfect casting and the special effects are still great. I will always like a harry potter film and the ootp was no exception. I really enjoy Gary Oldman as Sirius (did you know he taught daniel how play bass?), and seeing Sirius and Harry interact on screen was amazing for me. I also like how watching the movie helps bring lots of things in the book come to life. Like the family tree-that was so cool. _________________ "Twitchy little ferret, aren't you, Malfoy?"

I agree, and that is what I do as well. It was kind of like superhero movies to me. They didn't really stick to the comic, but as their own movies, they were pretty good. I feel the same with Harry Potter.
"The movie will never be as good as the book" has been said about a whole bunch of movies. As previously stated, Harry Potter is no exception. It wasn't as good as the book, but it was by no means bad. Not comparing it to the book, it was one of the better movies IMO. _________________ Avi by Orchid. |

I'm torn, really, between like and dislike.
I think the film makers did a very good job of translating the book to a film. Everything that was changed or cut was done so for the simple reason of making the film easier to follow. Everything still made sense to the audience, and it stayed true to the heart of the story.
However, for some reason, the movie just bored the hell out of me. For the first half of the movie, I struggled to stay awake. The only redeeming part of the movie was the final duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort, and that was entirely too short.
In short: I thought it was a good book-to-movie translation, but it was just boring to watch. _________________

i think that if i hadn't read the book as many times as i have, then i would've liked it much more.
though from that point-of-view, it leaves a lot to be questioned by someone who doesn't know everything from the book. |
