When I first read this mysterious mans name. The first families that came to my mind was Black ( Siruis' family ) and Bones ( Susan [from Hufflepuff] ).
I am really stumpted about his guy ... Does anyone have any rumours they have heard through the grapevine?

I think it is Regulus Artus Black.
It says so somewhere in this forum but i 4get where!

Practically it could be anyone but I too think it is Sirius's younger brother Regulus ??? Black ....

Well all i know about RAB (Regulus A Black) is that he was once a death eater, but deserted voldemort. But Voldemort tracked him down and killed him. pg 103 HBP (Draco's Detour)

I'm betting on Regulus Black. I've heard that JKR has said she won't be introducing any new major characters in Book 7. I think the writer of the note counts as a Major character. Of course, I don't know how true that is, but I've no cause to disbelieve it, as it would ruin book 7 if JK suddenly threw in a totally new but very important character.
Also, everything else seems to fit- Regulus was a Death Eater, but then changed his mind. He would have ways to find out about Horcruxes- I'm sure there are better books on the subject in grimmauld place than at Hogwarts- but he clearly thought there was only one. |

Siriuses brother... and there was the Horcrux in the house... remember? They talked about a locket, I think, made out of gold... let me check again when I am home...

Hey do u guys remember that Mundungus stole stuff from Grimauld Place, i think he stole and sold the horcrux (the locket) that R.A.B found.

I think that RAB is Regulus Black but... he is dead. I don't think he will have a huge impact on the next book because he is dead. I don't know, JK could have just put that in there to get us thinking...

| My opinion is it seems WAY TOO OBVIOUS. I mean, I think about 80% of the people who read the 6th book probably immediately thought it was him. I did, and I know a lot of people who did. It seems way to obvious for her to have that. My theory is, she mentioned someone in one of the books that none of us are thinking about. It could be someones name in a good chapter where you aren't really paying attention. |

Ah, no it didn't! Harry asked if Voldemort killed him personally. Serius said that he wasn't important enough for Voldy to kill himself.
