|
|
I have been thinking over the past two years I have been reading the series and watching the movies as they cut more and more details out of the movies that are very important. I have come tot he conclusion that making them into movies is the wrong thing to do. They should have done a tv series. A, networks are always looking for series that will continue each season.
Second you would be able to put in all the details of each book into one season. All the characters would be able to be in there as well not miss any of the story that has been hacked to bits. This is my personal thought. What do you think do you agree?
Tim
P.S. clearly each book would be a season. |

nope, the budget would be lower, the characters would probably be different, not a good idea in my opinion _________________ WARNING, the following image may cause a fit. (of awful dancing)

this is an intersting concept, but what is done is done.
it could have worked though, but they would need a big budget to make it nice. _________________

| for every 100 pages of a book +1 hr of movie they had no choice but to do movie because it equals instant cash vs set price per episode and let network scoop up advertise revanue. to drawn out for child actors and contracts would just get obscene as popularity grew or cast could hold series hostage. Nice thought though Id watch |

| The name alone would be a get a big budget. After watching a season of Heroes and all of the stuff they do on that each episode Harry Potter could easily be done right as well the characters be the same. Well not played by the actors in the movies. |

but still i dont think the budget would be big enough to make a high quality show, like as good quality as in the movie.
so if they made a crappier version than the movies, they would just end up losing money cause not as many people would watch. _________________

What would have been nice to see is an extended edition of the movies, a la LOTR. Then each movie, especially the later ones wouldn't feel so rushed. _________________

YEs! that makes perfect sense because...Jk Rowling said if you would do everything exactly as the book says the movies would be 24 hrs. Episodes are and hr each so that means like 24 or less episodes....that would be really good...and each book could be a season _________________ The Scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. could anybody stand waiting a week between every porbably 200 pages or so?? that would be about equal to an hour a week episode. _________________

Yeah, but then FOX would cancel it. The CW would pick it up and throw those pop-ups into the lower right hand screen advertising Grey's Anatomy. The CW "sexes it up" by creating a love triangle between Colin, Ginny and a new character that is added in because she's a big name played by Lindsay Lohann. Eventually FX would start airing reruns and cut out the best scenes to make room for more commercials. Eventually it will start coming out on dvd before the summer is even over. So people will stop watching it on CW and FX because they'll just be able to watch it on dvd. Ratings will drop and CW will cancel it. There will be talk of a reunion movie in 5 years, but by then the actors will demand more money and the directors keep backing out. The writers stage a strike and the fans give up in frustration. _________________

When done write the series would work. Especially what we are seeing in hour long series. The first few seasons would not need as big of budgets as the latter ones. Which would allow it to gain popularity and get the budget for later books.
As far as I am concern I would like to see it as a TV series. Since the movies came finish them and wait ten years. If the books are still selling good turn it into a TV Series since what is capable in movies will slowly make their ways down to TV.

| I think a show would feel uneventful and anti climatic. It would feel like twenty or thirty little stories instead of 7 major ones, even if the 7 major ones have to leave some stuff out. |

I've always thought that the books would lend better to television than film, since as it has been mentioned, it would allow more room for detail, and we wouldn't necessarily have to sacrifice entire subplots and characters since there wouldn't be the same time constraints.
Full series for each book, though? That might spread things a little too thin, I think. I like the idea of more of a mini-series per book-- so fewer episodes, as opposed to the usual 13 or 23, but still more screen time than the movies allow.

I actually think this is great idea. As long as they don't throw even more extra stuff in, to make it more high-schoolsy. but if they stuck to the book, I think it could be incredibly awesome, and they could pay much closer attention to detail. and a mini-series a book would work too. like 7 eps for each book, an hour or two long each ep. wow I wish they'd do that. _________________

I thought about a Harry Potter cartoon. Or maybe a comic book series.

Maybe they'll also make TV series. But it's hard to make Harry Potter TV series. I mean if there was those classical american bullshit about saving the world ok but when you have 7 book it's hard to make series. Unless you make 7 season and every season is about one book. 1st season in Philosopher's Stone and so on. _________________

Totally Agreed.
In the latest movie Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix not only did they cut out bits, but they also changed the parts of it they did show. I was told before I saw the movie not to compare the movie to the book because I would be dissapointed. During the movie, I couldn't help but think that it must have been confusing for those who have never read the books. The movies are becoming more of a vague recap of the most interesting/crucial events rather then a replica of the book. _________________ нαяяy pοттєя<3
