I think they screwed Sirus's death up becuase:, First off in the book it isnt the Killing curse that kills suries, it says so..., yet in the movie sirus is hit by it and yet is able to smile? no

Yeah I know thats what I noticed too. Because in the book he didnt get hit by a killing curse so people still wondered if he was alive, but if he would have got hit by a killing curse that meant he was gone forever.

the thing he fell into was a veil hanging from the arch it is like a seperator from the living and the non, once you go in there you are lifeless and cant come back. (thats why harry and luna heard the voices because there were a bunch of dead soals in there)... so i hope that helps with your questoin

I think it was stupid that they changed it like that. Have him get hit, fall through the arch, then take another 30 seconds after the battle is all said and done to explain why Sirius can't come back for all those in the audience who go "Huh?" and everybody will be hunky-dory, both from a book fan and movie fan's perspective.

I know Vincent doesn't post here anymore, but they have to change things to make them more dramatic. Also, I think everyone that dies goes into that "arch." Hence why Luna and Harry could hear those voices.

In the book, they never actually stated which curse hit Sirus. And as for him smiling, he's supposed to have been laughing prior to that, so that when the curse hits, it appears as though he's still smiling.

The scene was fine. I'm not concerned whether it copied the book exactly. It was close. I liked it.

It wasn't fine, because the man did not die instantly when he was AKed. I don't mind the fact that they had him AKed instead of just falling behind the veil, but he should have have to reaction to the curse. Being AKed is like Wham, you're gone.

No, it was fine. You forgot to take into account two things: the distance she was standing from Sirius, and the possible implications of Sirius standing so close to the Veil. Even JK Rowling didn't voice concern over it. The Avada Kedavra obviously wasn't compromised to give us a decent scene.

I don't remember but in the movie do you actually hear the spell that bellatrix cast being said.

I know it was probably the killing curse, but what if it wasn't i'm sure there is at least one more spell that casts a green glow kind of thing.

What does the distance she was standing from Sirius have ANYTHING to do with it. The killng curse kills the same way. Also, what the hell kind of implicaitons are you talking about as far as Sirius standing so close to the veil?

She very clearly said Avada Kadavra.

Here is the death scene. It just isn't right. He even takes some gasping breaths after he is hit by the freaking spell.

When I read the books, I thought it was the Killing Curse that hit Sirius, and then it knocked him back into the veil. It reminds me of DD's death, when the Killing Curse hit him, it threw him back and he toppled over the side of the tower. So if the Curse hadn't killed him, the fall would have. Same with Sirius, if the Curse hadn't killed him, the veil might have.
The fact is, we don't know if the movie messed up. JKR could have meant for Bellatrix to have hit Sirius with the Killing Curse, we don't know she didn't.

Oh, this made me cry. again. Crying or Very sad that is definitely the most powerful scene of all HP movies. Crying or Very sad so sad.
So what if he`s taking gasping breaths?? It hurt, didn`t it?

zengrenouille, when you're called up on a point you can't just ignore it and then repeat your previous statement.

There's really nothing wrong with Sirius' death in the movie. I mentioned the range of Bellatrix's curse as a possible reason of why he didn't die instantly, and then there's the Veil. We know it has a connection with death itself. So it could've had an influence over how his death was played out, like it did in the book.
