Spoiler:

On page 712, when Harry asks Dumbledore where they are, and then suggests King's Cross Station, Dumbledore is amazed. When asked what he thinks he says,

"My dear boy I have no idea. This is, as they say, your party."

Im not sure what he's talking about here. It may just be something that I'm not getting, and meaningless, but every time I read it, it seems like is has some meaning that I'm not getting.

Spoiler:

It could simply be that since it was taking part in Harry's head (presumably) it was his "party" in the sense that he dictated everything that went on, including the location."

I think it would have been whatever he wanted to make it. like how the robes appeared when he asked for them. I think maybe it turned into a place with meaning to him...it was the place that brought him to his only real home, to happiness. and really...it was the best place for him to chose. because hogwarts had turned sour for him from time to time, but the train station never did (except when the barrier closed...but taht wasn't the stations fault)

Yes, I don't quite understand the whole King's Cross thing, actually. This is what I gonna ask. Any thought?

Spoiler:

I guess that makes sense, somewhat. But what made me feel like there was something more was Dumbledore saying "as they say". Seemed like it could be more significant.

PS. Arabella, I love your signature. That line was one of my favorite of the books. And the D.A. thing rocks!

to answer the question about king's cross....i believe that harry wanted a calm and peaceful place to talk to dumbledore. King's cross was nothing more than a place where he and dumbledore could "bury the hatchet"

Kings Cross had two things that were significant about it.

1) Kings Cross represented Harry's crossing into the magical world from the muggle world. In other words, Kings Cross represented his salvation and his road to a true home. If he were to invent a special place in his head where he could go and feel truly happy I could see that Kings Cross could be a good choice.

2) Kings Cross represented Harry's choice to live or die. Being a train station it is a place where with one choice you determine your future destination. Harry was given a choice to go back and fight V or to die and pass on to a better place. Therefore the train station represented a choice of destinies.
