I don't know if this is in the right place but....

Why do people think there's a Harry/Hermione relationship going on in the movies? Confused My sister thinks that, but then again she's a H/Hr fan. Rolling Eyes Their relationship seems similar to the books, IMO. Very close freindship. I don't mean to upset any H/Hr fans, btw. I just don't understand it.

Am I the only one who doesn't see what they're talking about? I always thought it was obvious in the movies that Hermione and Ron liked eachother.

Well I'm talking about the movies so far. I don't understand how people think it's H/Hr.

Spoiler:

The locket was reading Ron's mind and playing on his insecurities. Voldemort is not good at detecting Love. He didn't think that Snape loved Lily. It was obvious that he was madly in love with her. I always said it anyway.

In GoF they did kind of play up H/Hr a bit, I think. I got a the feeling the director was a H/Hr shipper. But we know how it ends, whether we like it or not.

I agree with toonmili, the locket played up Ron's insecurities somehow, maybe by fedding on the negativity or something. Either way, I don't think there was any Harry/Hermione shipping going on when Ron was gone, just brotherly and sisterly love, just like Harry said.

But H/Hr in the movie was similar to H/Hr the book, IMO. A very close friendship and her constant worry for Harry's life. So I really didn't see anything played up. If H/Hr was played up in the movie then it sure was in the book too.

And I don't think the director prefered H/Hr. He was the same director from the three movies before that, and R/Hr was played up in those.

Oh, thanks. ^^ I never really payed attention honestly. They do have the same screenwriter though. That's probably what I was mixed up with.

Well I still don't think he prefered H/Hr went he was harping on about R/Hr in some interview I read.

It's definitely obvious, but a lot of people think that very close friendship means love... and that's why there's so many H/Hr shippers out there.

Not sure what you mean by obvious. ^^

Geez, I can only hope they don't put Harry and Hermione together in the movies.

Mike Newell was teh director for GoF and that was the only one he directed and the only film I really felt shipped Hermione and Harry more so than Hermione and Ron. And I doubt it has anything to so woth the screenwriter because the director can make changes and can also manipulate the blocking.

Well, whatever.... I honestly thought it was similar to the book.

Anyway, I hope he doesn't direct any of the others if he ships H/Hr.

In GoF, except for the Yule Ball scenes there was foreshadowing of Ron and Hermione, no jealousy... so much of that was missing. And then you had a lot of Harry and Hermione scenes. Like the hug that was thrown in and later on on the bridge before the 2nd task. Then after the second task she kisses Harry on the head... all the Krum and Fleur jealousy scenes were taken out. When the students from the other schools go to leave, there is no tension. With all the jealousy and tension taken out and then all Harry and Hermione scenes thrown in, it was a very twisted-ship movie.

Yeah, besides the things that were cut I still thought it was similar to the book. But I did miss the jealousy and tension. Sad I could understand the hug though. Harry was about to battle a dragon. Shocked

I always thought at the end of the movie Ron was staring at Hermione as Viktor was talking to her and that's why he looked like he was brooding. But maybe it was just a coincidence.

Oh yeah, I could understand the hug, too. I mean her best friend was about to battle a dragon... but with all the Ron stuff taken out, it stood out a bit, ya know?

And I'm not sure if he even saw Hermione and Viktor together. He was a bit focused on Fleur at the time. The afterwards when Hermione pleads with Ron and Harry to write to her, Ron says, "I won't. You know I won't." Of course he could have been joking, but with all the other stuff missing it was hard to tell. And then Harry says, "Every week." Which just adds to my frustration that the director as leaning towards Harry.Hermione instead of Hermione/Ron.

*shakes head* Why did they leave so much out?? It's frustrating!!

All I meant was that the scene shows Hermione and Viktor, then cuts to Ron sitting and looking at something with a weird look on his face. *shrugs* Who knows.

Nah, Mike Newell only directed GoF. David Yates directed OotP and will be directing HBP. Alfonso Cuaron directed PoA and Chris Columbus directed SS/PS and CoS.

I know what look you're talking about. It's weird to interpret, I know what you mean, It's right after Fleur says good bye to him. He kind of shakes his head. Either right before that or right after that Viktor says good-bye to Hermione. Either way it does look like he could have been watching Viktor and Hermione. I have no idea.

LOL. It's so confusing!!

And yeah, I corrected myself when I looked again lol ^^

It was right before Fleur said goodbye to him. Wink

Hmmmm.... ok, I think I'm going to go with.... yes, I do think that while Viktor was saying good-bye to Hermione Ron was watching. That was why when Fleur went over to Ron to say good-bye he wasn't as interested and perhaps a bit uncomfortable. I wonder whathappened next. Because then we see everyone say good bye and Harry is walking down the bridge... then Ron jumps through the arch and Hemrione swings around... so at some point Ron and Hermione met up. I wonder if after Viktor said good-bye and she showed Angelina the note she then went right over to Ron. Ok, now I might be just grasping for straws her...

Tough decision and the above points are valid but I don't think anyone has said much about the third film, when after the Trio thought Buckbeak was killed, that Hermione turned towards Ron and put her head on Ron's shoulder. Not Harry's. Interesting tidbit. Plus, I believe the Harry/Hermione "relationship" in the fourth film was only due to the writings of Rita Skeeter. I remember, in the book, that's what had happened so the director decided to keep that part, but never put the information about Rita's beetle form at the end. It's arguable that there is a Harry/Hermione relationship but I see more of a Ron/Hermione. Hermione might hug Harry more (2nd film) as well as some of the points stated above but only because Ron's emotions are said to be bad (I forgot the actual quote but Hermione said so in the 5th film).

^^ Yeah, I agree. Ron/Hermione is much more obvious in both the books and movies.

A friend of mine has always said H/Hr is obvious in the books. She's delusional to me, but I guess it's a matter of perspective. Confused

Very good point. That was why Hermione hugged Harry, but not Ron at the end of CoS (in the movie)
Quote:
"It is foreshadowing, yeah. I just love the idea that the two of them, that there's an impending crush. And it's such a real thing for kids at that age. For instance, I asked Emma to hug Dan, and she said, 'No way,' and that was the day she was the most nervous being on the set. She was like, 'I am not going to hug him, no I'm not.' And I said, 'You've been petrified, this is one of your best friends, if not your best friend, you have to hug him,' I said, 'but you won't hug Ron, because that's where the tension is." -- From Q&A session with Chris Columbus at the CoS press junket

Oh, and the line is, "just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have." The scene in PoA was actually there for Alfonso Cuaron in memorium to his previous film, Y Tu Mama or whatever it's called. I saw it, it was very good. And it had a love triangle in it, which was why he put that hug scene in. Anyway, yeah, she tends to want to lean on Ron, but he has the emotional range of a teaspoon. I mean, there she is hanging on to him crying her eyes out and he goes and runs after his rat.
