I believe in this movie Spiderman is fighting with the symbiote along with our villians. There are so many flippin villians in the Spiderman series!

The symbiote would be Venom, Spiderman's nemesis and my favorite spidey villain. I was hoping they would put Venom in one of the movies, that would a superb showdown.

I had heard of venom, and new what he looked like... or so I thought. The trailer made it look like it was just a split personality or something. Is Venom actually another guy? Or is it something more abstract?
By the way, if explaining this to me would ruin some surprise or something, don't tell me.

Ok, in the comics Spider-Man was chosen as one of Earth’s Heros’s to fight in a comic crossover storyline called Secret Wars where some heroes and villains were put on another planet and had to fight each other. During this story line Spider-Man’s web shooters were destroyed and he had to find something to replace them, while looking for replacement web shooters he accidentally activated the wrong machine, freeing from imprisonment a sentient alien symbiote. It flowed over his body and formed a new costume which responded to his thoughts, was able to mimic street clothes and seemed to provide an unlimited supply of webbing.
That’s how he gets the black costume in the comics but they’ll do it differently in the films. Later the symbiote tries to merge itself with Parker and he has to get rid of the suit and once he does it merges with another photographer called Eddie Brock which gives birth to Venom.
