Because it's not like the defining trait for Slytherin is being evil, or hexing things, or being an arrogant, brainless git. Being in Slytherin is about being ambitious and doing whatever's necessary to get to the top. James and Sirius weren't like that at all. They may have hexed a few people, but it wasn't to gain power or anything, and they were always loyal to their friends. A Slytherin would betray his friends in an instant to gain more power, which is why I think Wormtail should have been in Slytherin. _________________

and hexing people doesnt make you evil. they just found it funny. now cursing people is... like avada or crucio... imperio... yeah.
but inflating your head twice the normal size... just a stupid little hex harry would love to do on dudley, _________________

1. How could he have been in Slytherin, if James and Sirius were friends with him? It makes me wonder...
2. Being evil doesn't necessarily put you in Slytherin either, it's just that evil people are often ambitious. _________________

hmm... lets see... the slytherins were greatly unpopular. the gryffindors were popular. being a slytherin, pettigrew turned his back on his fellow slytherins and befriended james and sirius because they were popular. _________________

maybe, if he wets his pants at the sight of them. they probably took pity on him coz he was such a loser. and the slytherins didnt like him coz he was a disgrace to the name "slytherin" _________________

Maybe... I still think he was just a Gryffindor who turned out nasty. They wouldn't have trusted a Slytherin as their secret keeper. _________________

JKR said all the marauders were in Gryffindor.
Slytherin was WAY too cool a place for James, Sirius, Remus and Peter. They would have had to have been involved in the dark arts like Snape. All REAL Slytherins are deeply involved in the dark arts. I really don't know how the others get in at all.
And if anyone disagrees: CRUCIO!!!! |

| i think that wormtail was like neville but when he got older he needed someone who could protect him more so he wouldnt have to worry about someone coming to kill him other than the ministry and the ministry isnt that powerfull |

I'm not really sure why Wormtail was in Gryffindor...I don't think he was in Slytherin though because he wasn't really after power, he was just a coward, but cowards shouldn't be in Gryffindor. This is kind of a hard one. But, anyway back to the main question, James and Sirus would never be in Gryffindor, because they were so loyal to their loved ones, they would do anything for them, even die. _________________

They were in Gryffindor because they were brave. Not only jerks are in Slytherin. Bullies are pretty much everywhere. _________________
