So I just came home from seeing it. Yes I'm disapointed and I'm gonna list what they left out/ruined and just fume about it.

*-of little importance
**-somewhat important
***-important
****-pretty important
*****-very important

Spoiler:

Harry listening to the news*-it just gives background

Dudley (he was a complete moron in the movie)**-i was dissapointed in how quick it went and just how stupid he sounded

Dementor Attack***-i dont think you can hurt a dementor by poking it with your wand like that

Patronus-it wasnt really corporeal/it didnt take the shape of a stag as far as i could see

Mundungus Fletcher**-member of the order left out and one that helps twins

The Dursley/Harry talk about magic**-I thought this was a major point in the books how the muggle world and magic world were colliding with each other now that Voldemort was back

The Howler (Remember my last Petunia)***-We really don't know what it means but it has to be important

The Escape**-they shouldnt have been that low to the ground, they should have been high in the air like in the book

Grimmauld Place*-shouldnt it be darker and stuff? and shouldnt it have popped out more quickly?

Cleaning*-would have been fun to see

The mirrors****-I would have thought these would be a big part of the seventh book in maybe communicating with sirius

Prefects****-ron and hermione chosen as prefects and not harry is a huge plot twist and how harry meets luna

Percy***-they didnt explain where he was or that he even existed but im pretty sure he was with the minister there

Twin OWLs*-i thought it was important seeing as they left that year

Weasley Wizard Wheezes**-there was hardly any talk of them making their joke shop or preparing for it just one scene of testing them

OWLs*-they didnt really show much of them just the theory of charms one

Harry's dream of Sirius**-Should have happened when he was in History of Magic OWL not in the middle of a crowd cheering

Twins escape**-they didnt do the swamp and escaping on the brooms that were taken from Umbridge

Quidditch***-very cool to watch but none of it there leading to Harry's lifelong ban or Angelina as captain with Ginny on the team

Firenze**-why didnt they show him replacing Trelawney?

Centaurs***-there were no names, there was no bane or the other leader not even firenze

Grawp**-he learned too fast and he never said anything

Department of Mysteries****-There was no room with many doors, no brain room, no time room, no goofy ron, not alot of emphasis on death of Sirius either or the veil

Stunners***-thats the thing they DIDNT STUN they just did what all the other spells do, throw you in the air

Hagrid sacked/Mcgonagall stunned***-they cut this out, they didnt sack him and they didnt stun Mcgonagall and take her to St. Mungos. this was important so as it shows how alone the students are with no allies-Hagrid, Mcgonagall, and Dumbledore. just Umbridge

The talk with DD*****-this should have explained everything to Harry but they didnt put as much as they should have. they cut it so bad that no one will have a clue what happens next movie. there was no in depth discussion of the prophecy or anything about Harry as far as i saw

The Prophecy*****-No one was supposed to have heard it AT the ministry. Harry did. Then giving it to malfoy was dumb and everything involving the prophecy was cut into pieces which was a main part of everything in that book.

Thats all I can think of for now. What are your thoughts?

I watched the movie as well. honestly, yes they did leave out a lot. but seriously..think about it. if they put ALL that in, the movie would've been longer than it was. which is probably the main reason why they leave out so many details in the movie anyway.

I thought it was rather good. Not great, but not dissapointing at all.

Also, Percy was in the movie. and obviously on Fudge's side. Yes, they could've mentioned it. But I'm pretty sure you get the idea when he isn't at any of the family gatherings and such.

However I was dissapointed w/ the whole prefects thing and the department of mysteries and especially the prophecy.

Spoiler:

I understand why they took stuff out and I thought they did a good job of condensing things and colleaguing it together.

Was it face paced? yes

Would I have been completely lost had I not read the book? probably

But I'd just like to say that the film had a more artistic touch to it. The opening music was great, the camera angles and the shots, the color, I loved all of this, I thought it added a lot to the movie, it made me take it more seriously.

Some scenes were too short, yes but overall I think the overall meaning of the book was conveyed.

Mostly I'm a little disturbed by how Sirius was off'ed... And that Fawkes didn't show up during the final fight.

The Dumbledore/Voldemort duel was awesome, for how short it was. Dumbledore using that spell to turn the glass into sand... nice.

That's how all the movies are, even the books jump weeks into the future from one chapter to the next.

If you want everything in the movies, you'll be watching a 20 hour movie, that's just the way it is.

Yes it did. If you look closely you see it's horns throw the Dementors.

Spoiler:

I'm with you on the prefects and the Dumbldore talk with Harry at the end.
But really there was no need for everything else you mentioned to be in the movie.

It was really well done as far as I'm concerned.

I thought the movie was good but I wish they had of put quiditch in the movie. I would of loved to see Ron and Ginny and the slytherins singing "weasley is the king" and I think quiditch is good for the movie cause it makes the atmosphere of the movie shift from tense to calm and free which is good cause it gives us a bit of a break from being tense by the main plot to being a relaxed a bit from the main plot.

they could have done a better job by adding the christmas portion, extending a bit the "a peck of owls" portion, and extending the battle scene. but as far as the middle of the book is concerned, the war between dolores and the DA, it was well condensed. even if there were silly additions like filch and the chocolates, it was hilarious anyway.

i wouldnt mind it if they didnt stick 100% to the story. but i wish they didnt leave out the good parts.

it's always going to be this way no matter how much you complain. But I understand where your coming from and how frustrating it is. But, they do what they do and it does well enough that they continue making them. Because there are those people out there that don't read the books and just go by the movies. Which I feel sorry for those people, but it's the same with Lord of the Rings. Can't really change it.

Okay as much as they did leave out...this has to be one of the best HP movies right now.
Plus I think that they left more out in PoA...there was so much missing and it still bothers me to this day.
Yet this was the longest book && they fit in alot of the important information that was needed...sure there are thing I' would have loved to seen but a movie can only be so long.

i was really really looking forward to the swamp scene i thought it was really funny!!!!!!!
but noooooooo they cant have that Sad
they should have made it a lot long i would have payed a good $20 to see a long movie...........
i find the book so much better........

they ruined it for me.......that is the only time we will see Grimmauld Place
and it was only in 2 scene's for what 2 min. each...........ggggggrrrr.....
i agree on one thing........and thats that. the graphics were wonderful.......
the only problem was the Patronus, it looked way to animated (dont know how to explain it)
it just didnt look right Sad

sorry for rambling just had to get all that out

I was so looking forward to the swamp scene to && I thought they could have made the fireworks more intense like how the book talked about.

The one chapter of the book I wish they had put in was Snape's Worest Memory...sure it was kinda in there but not through the pensive && we didn't get to see how Lily && James interacted. There were other things in that chapter that were very important such as:
the Vanishing Cabinet.
