I don't care all that much because most of those kids didn't even grow up reading Harry Potter. To be honest, Twilight could very well be the first non-picture book some of those kids ever read; like Harry Potter was for most of us on here. At least, it was for me. Harry Potter, that is. lol

Harry Potter was the first non picture book that i've read too... Very Happy

aww, that's so bad HP lost.

Now there will be shenanigans from the Death Eaters!!!!

definitely not enough options for all the categories. i dont think HP has a chance at winning D : too many young girls out there!

.... dude, young girls like Harry Potter, too, lol.

yah but i think its a little different. idk how but i think it just is. edward is made out to be like a sex symbol and harry isn't. girls are like actually in love with edward.

It's a fact that more girls will go voting for Twilight because of Edward than Harry Potter.

Not me...I'm was going for Harry Potter!. Sucks they lost, but that's what happens when you leave the voting up to people who choose high school musical & vanessa hudgens & the jonas bros as winners Rolling Eyes

The voting was based on fads. Disney Channel's been dying since Lizzie McGuire was cancelled. Twilight will be around for as long as the movies sell... and that's it.

Selena Gomez from Wizards of Waverly Place

I'm trying to figure out if I'm surprised Twilight beat out HP or not.

I mean, whine all you want that a bunch of young fangirls did the voting... but are these the same fangirls who voted for HP in the past awards show? Apparently there are either more Twilight fans that HP right now.... or people repeatedly voted more for Twilight than for HP. Either way, the number speak for themselves, lol.

I'm surprised.. i thought most of the votes were children.. as in people who are too young to read Twilight because lets face it. is a seven year old going to like a book about romance? but harry potter isn't like that

Well Nick has a large pre-teen fanbase. I mean the iCARLY show is one of its most popular shows.

I think most voters were 12-16
people who obv know how to use computers Laughing

How dissapointing... but what else could we have expected from the kids choice. J.K. is way better.

mmhhmm.... I like Twilight and all... but HP > Twilight, in my opinion.

As i said, I'm not surprised that Twilight won... it's whats big right now... HP is fading into the background. There are people who haven't read the books in years.. but Twilight is still fairly fresh in everyone's minds, as the latest book came out less than a year ago. I have to be honest, I was even surprised HP was on the list, as the seventh book came out two years ago. I wonder what a book has to do to get on that list, besides be popular. I mean, surely other great books came out this year who would be deserving of this award.

I think it made the list because there are so many kids who are familiar with it along with Twilight. Although there are many other good books that came out in 2008, they didn't receive as much attention as these two books.
