What changes would you make?

I mean, it seems to me a bit unfair that the catch of the Snitch by the Seeker earns the team so many points... it sorta makes the effort of other players of the teams a bit in vain...

(Well this topic may not be about characters or creatures but I dunno where else to put it.)

I think the snitch should only be 60 points. Thats it.

I completely agree, and I love how you said "vain" of the other players, because 90% of the time their efforts in the game are pointless and truly are in vain.

Ron can stink it up as Keeper but if Harry can get the Snitch in a reasonable amount of time he can always save his butt!

Yes, the game of Qudditch and its rules are majorly flawed. Yet I still like to hear about it from time to time in the books.

But it matters that you have a good Keeper. Because even if you lose one game, and say the difference is like 400 points, you have to have a good keep to block everything and have a good chaser to get in 260 points before you can win the cup.

Yeah it matters but it's so confusing that every time there is a tie breaker situation she has to go through and explain exactly what will happen if this team loses or this team wins.

If you are just talking about one game and most of the ones we've seen in the book, the other players don't really matter when it comes down to it.

and I hate in the Qudditch World Cup when Bulgaria is only 160 points down and Krum catches the snitch. Harry says he KNEW that they would never catch up.

THEY ONLY HAD TO SCORE 1 GOAL, THEN HE COULD HAVE CAUGHT IT AND IT WOULD BE A TIE!

Please, they could NEVER catch up? That's pretty dumb right there. They should have been way more down for Krum to have done what he did.

Yeah, but I don't think JK wants to concentrate on Quidditch much, just like the movie producers.

Then she shouldn't have put it in Wink yet she devoted a lot of pages to it nonetheless.

sure, the other players don't make much difference in one game, but when you are playing in a tournament where total points matter it can make a difference. say you catch the snitch when you already have 200 points that adds 350 to your total season score, but if you catch the snitch when you only have 80, then you only add 230 points to your total season score. look at the big picture Very Happy

I think she added the seeker part to make it different from any other game. Otherwise it would just be an ordinary goal scoring game, albeit on broomsticks.

Well, the 150 points is given instead of the 150 galleons that used to be rewarded for catching the Golden Snidget. The 150 points might seem unreasonable, but it's a fun tradition and it could make a huge difference in a game, making it all the more exciting.

If I could change something it would be maybe less dangerous. I undee\rstand that sometimes sports can be brutal, but the fact that they must continue playing while spurting blood makes me feel so bad for the players.

id remove the snitch part altogether. i agree that 90% of the time, the chaser and keeper's efforts are futile. the only time we see that they are useful is in the quidditch world cup in book4, when ireland won but krum got the snitch.

anyway, i dont see anything intersting in the seeker. he's more like a distraction to the main game. ill stick it out with the beaters, chasers, and keepers.

If the snitch and seeker were taken out of the game, how would you have the game end?

Sometimes the games can go for several days. In 1953 a game went on for 7 days. With a time limit this would end, how long should the game be?

60 minutes with a half time would be good I think.

Or you could even keep the seeker and snitch and have it worth like 30 points each time they catch it but the game doesn't end. Surprised

yeah... like bonus points... but there will be like 5 snitches. then the seekers should try to get as many of them to earn their team bonus points.

no no a time limit would kill the game all one team would have to do is score a couple times then hold the quaffle plus a seven day game sounds amazing wish we could do that in football(soccer).

that would be so tiring...

maybe a time limit. at least you can predict what time you will end because what if you have something important to do but you have to continue the game because you are a player? you cant neglect your duties all in the name of quidditch.

yeah you can, possible. but you may not. if we all got hooked up on quidditch, and it ran for seven days, what would happen to the ministry of magic? no operations for seven days because of a quidditch game? what would happen to gringgotts? no operations due to quidditch? what would happen to hogwarts? to diagon alley? to hogsmeade? nobody to stay on guard or continue operations because of quidditch. perfect time for voldemort to attack.

well people go to games because they want to see the entire game. imagine... 7 days no sleep, 7 days no ministry, 7 days no gringotts, no hogwarts...

i dont think anyone would want to miss an entire game.

7 days is nothing. a couple energy drinks and u can be up for that long(i did it but for 5 days crash was terrible)

plus voldy cant possible attack a quidditch match with every wizard there i mean he's powerful but WTF everybody attacks him at 1 time and he's screwed.

plus+ u have to remember not everybody can afford tickets or they get sold out so sum people will be left behind.

yeah but theyll watch it on wireless wizarding network. the point is everyone will be so hooked up with it that voldemort can use that opportunity to kill harry, plant a wizard bomb that can kill everyone in the stadium, and the list goes on. its not good for a game to go on for seven days.

oh geesh...not everyone is going to be at every match. and I doubt they'll be excused from work because I match hasn't ended. they'll simply have to leave and come back, get their hand magically stamped or something like that. they might be really into quidditch but they're not morons. they will stop watching to eat, sleep, relieve themselves, work, and other necessities and responsibilities. Its not like they're trapped inside the stadium and can't get out.
