Not the user. Razz Are they not the greatest creatures in the books? They just rock so hard. I really want one and want to be one. Anybody else think that Phoenixes rock harder than anything?

I being a Narnian Fan as well liked Centaurs but didn't like the look in the movies.
Alas they seem to be blinded by rage at the world for being outcasts, I greave for them.
PS: The Phoenix are fantastic creatures.

there's still so much about fawkes that we must need to know.

1. what did he have that he was able to supply the cores of both voldie and harry's wands?

2. does that mean he cant die? in book 5, he got a full blast of the avada. but he's still alive. and they burn when its time to "die" and are reborn. if so, for how long has fawkes been in existence? might he have been the pet of, say, godric gryffindor?

3. how can he hear harry expressing his loyalty to dumbledroe when harry was all the way down in the chamber of secrets? furthermore, how was he able to enter there? he couldnt have used the entrance harry used or ron would have noticed it. can he apparate? do time and space matter to him? can he hear and see everything all at once?

Now these are oppinions and are probably rong but heres my thoughts on the matter
1. I thought that it said in the books that it was two tail feathers and if a nicorn that just run around in the woods all day has magic in his hair, a creatur that can cure injures with its tears has atleast something in its tail feathers.
2. I'm guesing that they can't die so and is very interesting that you say that Faux could have been companion, I highly dought that a creature with that much power and devotion could be a pet or let itself be, of Godric Gryffindor. Very interesting indeed.
3.Probly can aperate or something of the sort. It probably has a vast admeration for Dumbledor and can use his natural magic to sence loyalty for others twords Dumbldor.

Those are my thought, I hope they help.

It's not so much that I love Phoenixes, I do. But there is something specifically special about Fawkes, the Phoenix, ya know?

well yeah, i think of fawkes more as a companion than a pet. fine, i'll restate what i think.

if phoenixes cannot die, might fawkes be older than dumbledore? and if he were, might he have been the companion of godric gryffindor?

Very interesting. Assuming that Fawkes is older than DD, which is safe to assume, then one has to wonder, who was his companion before DD? Who will be his companion now, if anyone?

better thinking! i never really thought about who fawkes companion is going to be now. and if it is gonna be harry, well, good luck to voldie... the owner of the feather in his wand is now siding with his opponent. that increases the odds of harry winning the battle (well, ya, harry will win, we readers know that, but voldie does not know that, since he is a character in the book).

I'm sorry butIve' only read the latter books once each, but I'll be rereading them again soon, but did having the Pheonix on Harry's side make it so Voldimorts wand malfunkshions if they fight.

Not malfunction, no. Both of their wand's cores cores are a Phoenix feather. And not just any phoenix, Fawkes's feathers. So their wands are "brothers" and when they fought in Goblet of Fire, they cursed each other at the same time. In doing so the spells connected, causing Voldemort's wand to regurgitate a few of his past spells. It's often speculated on what would happen if Harry and Voldemort fought again and history repeated itself.

I think halfbloodprincess is just saying if Harry actually had Fawkes with him, then he might gain the upperhand. Is that close to what you were saying, halfbloodprincess?

yes that was what i was saying, ginny.

anyway, if you take a look at the cover, which depicts the final battle, you will see that they are not holding wands. i think it is because it is prettty useless to use the wands since they will not work properly against each other.

maybe they are using wandless magic. maybe it is phoenix magic!

hey! read this essay from lexicon
http://www.hp-lexicon.org/essays/essay-fawkes.html

it confirms what i thought about fawkes being the companion of gryffindor. it is not surprising that fawkes can live for over a thousand years. after all, so did the basilisk. and if fawkes' magic can strengthen the courgae of the pure and strike fear into the hearts of the impure, then he will be very crucial in the battle between harry and voldie. in fact, i think he will be present in that battle. it is his magic that will matter most, that which will bring volders to his downfall. wand magic, i dont think, will be used. after all, the cover of DH depicts the two without wands, and wands would be useless since they have the same core and thus will not work properly against each other.

I'd have to say something like a blue Welsh Green, but we're getting off the subject.
