I can't figure that out. Why would Albus go out of his way to ask a kid in a muggle orphanage to go to Hogwarts? It really seems strange to me.
The only thing I can think of is Albus detected the untrained magic of the boy. Then offering him to come to hogworts.
Maybe Albus is truly evil and wanted to make Tom into evil. _________________ Dan Buske |

No I don't think DD was evil. I guess he got his letter the same way Hermione got hers. The Ministry could sense when Magic is being used and they must have sensed it from there. Consequently they offered him a place in Hogwarts. _________________ Remember, Remember, the 5th of November |

Harry was signed up for Hogwarts just after he was born. This was because his parents were wizards but later he showed signs of 'wizardness'.
We also know that there's a way of magic being detected by the MoM, they can also check if there are any adult wizards near the 'crime scene'. If this is not the case then they'll probably conclude that it's underage wizarding, but if there isn't a wizard living there who is registered (aka going to school/graduated) ... they'll conclude that it's a new student/muggle born wizard.
Why did DD get him out of that muggle orphanage? Well immagine what would have happened if an unsupervised Tom Riddle started to experiment his magic on other people without knowing what it was and huring people.
It would be better to watch young wizards because you don't know what they might do...

I agree with Tessa.
Tom Riddle could be watched "sort of" at Hogwarts, but in the muggle world he could do whatever he wanted to. Of coarse the downside to him being at Hogwarts was the access he had to magic books and teachers with information like Slughorn. _________________ Name: Arwen Black
