So I'm halfway there and I'm only 17. I meant to read the Da Vinci Code but never go to it. I really don't want to read Gone With the Wind and I will read the bible someday.

Out of AOL's list, I've read LOTR, Harry Potter, and I started on Atlas Shrugged, but Ayn Rand's writing bores the hell out of me. I just can't get into her, no matter how I've tried. I really want to read Da Vinci Code, saw the movie and was interesting.
My list:
1. Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind. The entire series, actually. 
2. Harry Potter and the Philospher's Stone...followed by the entire series.
3. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
4. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See.
5. Complete Works of Edgar Allen Poe.
6. Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
7. The entire Narnia series. 
8. Road to Nowhere by Christopher Pike
9. The Secret, by R. L. Stine
10. Creatures of Forever by Christopher Pike.
A few of those in there are in no way epic novels, but favorites of mine throughout the years.

I've read 7 of those, the majority are good books....but they aren't anything special...I could have lived without them personally (except in the case of Mistah Pottah). Sure is alot of fiction though...

1. the vampire chronicles from anne rice, HP, Narnia, LOR (to get the popular ones out of the way)
2. the old man and the sea
3. the bible (even if youre not religious, its a good read... skip the begots.. get a modern translation, and if you must skip something skip the new testament its all just different camera angles anyways... but i recommend reading it cover to cover)
4. the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy
5. go ask alice
6. 10 lil indians by agatha christie
7. animal farm
8. the monkeys paw, the christmas gift (these 2 i put here cuz im not sure of the names but i remember the stories pwn3d)
9. the davinci code

My break down of AOL's list:
Gone With the Wind - Saw the movie, will read the book at some point.
Lord of the Rings - Saw all the movies and read one book (and to me, it was boring as hell).
Harry Potter - Can you say "Obsession?" <-- Yeah, that's me!  But I must admit that the description AOL had for this series makes it look some series only a ten-year-old would read... Not nearly everyone in the entire world.
The Stand - Saw the movie, will read the book at some point or another.
The Da Vinci Code - Saw the movie (thought it was interesting). I might read it... who knows?
To Kill a Mockingbird - Read it, thought it was AMAZING.
Angels and Demons - Never even heard of it till now.
Atlas Shrugged - Same as previous.
Catcher in the Rye - I've always wanted to read it, just never had the opportunity.
The Holy Bible - ....................... screw that.
Now MY list:
Harry Potter series (plan to get to fifty times each book)
Twilight series
Everything by Nicolas Sparks
Everything by Nora Roberts
Catcher in the Rye
Moby Dick (it looks boring as hell and probably is, but for some reason, I want to read it)

Not sure...
I dare-say, however, that as I grow older, this list may or may not change. So do not lead yourself to believe I like only these books.

I've only read half of the books on that list. I'm ashamed to say that I still haven't gotten around to Gone with the Wind. Maybe I shoudl pick that up after I'm finished with the twilight series.
Anyway, I have a very short memory, so I'm having trouble thinking of the best books I've ever read. Here are the ten that are coming to mind in no particular order:
1. The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne -- Say whatever you will: it's a classic for a reason!
2. Cather in the Rye by J. D. Salinger -- this one was on the AOL list.
3. Harry Potter by J. K. Rowling-- naturally!
4. The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chauce -- If you get a version that is very simplified into modern English, then it is completely worth reading! The timelessness of the characters makes time seem so forgiving for some reason!
5. Twelfth Night by William Shakerpeare -- You will never stop laughing!
6. East of Eden by John Steinbeck -- The man has a way with words and can really draw a clear picture of American history through fiction!
7. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult -- This book is just amazing!
8. The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum -- no reason necessary: It is just required reading for life.
9 Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Macguire -- I love a fresh perspective on an old classic!
10. Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers -- Most people thin it's morbid, but it is one of the best books that I have ever read! This one is non-fiction, but so interesting that you would never know.
